In the past, horror movies were mainly linked to Thai cultural folklore, old legends and traditional ghosts. Movies often take place in villages in country side. Nowadays modern Thai horror movies mostly take place in cities and are often linked to spirits (วิญญาณ) looking for justice. In many Thai horror films, there is clash between past and present. Sins done in the past have to be paid nowadays.

The film was controversial because the setting closely matched that of Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, where the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, tortured prisoners. The film outraged Cambodians and calls were made to ban all Thai products.

Pregant Prae marries Pong. Pong was not in hurry to marry but he has no choice. They stay at Pong's mother home. Benn is Pong's sister but following the tragic death of her husband (burnt alive), she has lost part of her faculties. Many possibilities are investigated by Prae. Prae escapes to a mortal accident thanks to the warning cries of the baby. Unfortunately Pong's mother dies in a traffic accident. The monk analyses that the baby fright is linked to his bad karma and to the very bad actions he has done in his previous life. The one year deadline is an important event to be reached. Serious accidents happen to Pong and Prae. On the first year birthday eve, spirits get wild to kill the baby. Finally the family stays safe and it is known that Benn's husband was an officer who is responsible of the death of 5 students hanged during the student street demonstrations. His spirit has been reborn into Pong and Prae's baby.

The action takes place around 1930's. Nuanchan is looking for her husband, who has disappeared one year ago following a business trip. She arrives in a old traditional Thai wooden house where he is supposed to have stayed. She is pregnant. The house supervisor, Somjit, allows her to stay but told her not to go in the main building house as it is forbidden as the house ruler, Run-juan, doesn't want to be disturbed. Choi, a domestic helper, mentions she has never seen the house ruler face. Every fifteen days, food is offered at the spirit shrine and she saw a hand grabbing food... Nobody dares going out at night time. There are also rumours about a lady with long hairs who hanged her-self in the garden. Nuanchan misses her husband but mysteriously his face is never shown. Nuanchan delivered the baby. Choi wants to bury the birth remains in the soil as there is an old belief that the spirit "Phi Kraseu" (ผีกระสือ) will eat such food at night time. The house ruler Run-juan has lost her husband and there are rumours she is bringing a lover at night time. The house ruler Run-juan wants to take care of the baby as she never had the occasion to have a baby before. Choi disappeared. One day Nuanchan finds her husband in the garden. He is not able to tell the whole truth but he is staying with the house ruler lady and asks Nuanchan to leave for her own safety. Finally truth is known. Chob is in fact the house ruler lady's husband, who had an infidelity with Nuanchan. So Nuanchan is the mistress! Afraid to loose him, the house ruler lady stabbed him to death. Somjit, seeing the event, fell from the stairs and died. Choi is also a ghost. All people are ghosts. Nuanchan also is a ghost as she hanged her-self before but she still refuses the truth so continues to come to the house to search for her husband. Even if the third movie of Wisit Sasanatien was not as colorful as two previous works, he received a lot of praise for the homage given to films of the 1930s.

Chatree, young 7th grade pupil, is sent by his father in a dormitory in Chonburi. His father complains of his bad grades. Chatree and Vichien have close relationship. At 6PM everyday Vichien jumps and drowns in the swimming pool. Vichien's father has been condemned for fraud and to 25 years of prison. Chatree wants to help Vichien to stop this infinite event and be able to rebirth again. The teacher Pranee feels bad as she believes she is responsable of Vichien's death. Vichien death was an accident. Chatree needs to risk and separates his spirit (วิญญาณ) from his body in order to be able to help his friend Vichien. Dorm movie has been nominated for 10 Thai Subhanahongsa awards. It got more than 50 millions baht revenue in Thai box office. It was directed by one of the 6 young directors from "แฟนฉัน" (My Girl).

Ping wishes to become a musician. He becomes a student of Master Duang, a famous master musician. Pim and Ploy were Siamese twins. Ploy is dead many years ago following a chirurgical operation as Pim wanted to be separated from her twin sister. Finally there is a double personality problem between Dr. Sethee and Chon. They are the same person. The ghost of Dr. Dararai had a baby in the womb. She was a former mistress of Dr. Sethee. He killed her and chopped her body because she threatened to blackmail him if they break up. The ghost is using the double personality of Dr. Sethee by having one personality to enquiry on the other in order that he shall be condemned for his killing.

Using beautiful and sexy nurses is not enough to have a good scenario even if there is some "originality" on the murders (no respect for already dead people, murder of a pregnant woman...). There is a visual feast of colors with gory, gruesome and bloody sequences as the spirit takes revenge on the nurses and the doctor. There is then a surprising revelation that Tawan is not a real lady...

Nab is driving a herd of buffalo in Isan, Northeast of Thailand, but they are attacked by thieves led by ruffian Koon. Meanwhile while at home, his wife, Chan, is raped and killed. Sak is in fact an undercover policeman investigating on Koon. The area Wang Nang Phrai is a haunted shrine according to villagers and local people avoid it as a scary fiddle sound can always be heard there. A temple fair is happening in the village with boat race, dance (รำวง) and folk theater (likay). Saipin is the daughter of the sergeant and also Nuan’s close friend. She is fond of Sak. Khem is unsatisfied with Sak's presence. Ruffians try to kidnap Nuan again but they are chased away by the ghost of Chan. Koon decides to contact shaman (หมอผี) Kaew. They capture Chan and put it in an urn sealed with a sacred cloth. As Nuan is desperate following her mother disappearance, Sak consoles her and a romance starts between them. Saipin (สายพิณ) tries to get back Sak but to no avail. Saipin learns that Nuan is pregnant with Sak. Disappointed she arranges a plan with Khem so that he can kidnap her again. Refusing to become Khem’s wife, Nuan prefers to throw herself in the river and gets drown. Being pregnant, she becomes a powerful spirit (ผีตายโหง). The shaman tries to neutralize Nuan also. It is black magic versus white magic. Nuan spares Saipin’s life as they were friends before. Finally Saipin tells the truth to her father and to Nab. She has become crazy. Nab, Sak, the sergeant storm Koon house. Nuan takes revenge over Koon and Khem. She finally accepts to expiate her killings and hope to be reunited in next life with Sak. This movie scenario has many similarities with Mae Nak story. This movie brings a fresh and modern twist with better fx effects as such kind of movies were already popular in 1980 and 1990s.

Thai movie ผีไม้จิ้มฟัน / Vow of death was released in year 2007 and lasts 1h42mn. Movie director is พันธุ์ ชูเพ็ชร. It is teen comedy horror movie. Four university students (Ek, Don, Waen, Don’s girlfriend...) are preparing for their exams. There is a huge tree in the village with a spirit shrine below (เจ้าพ่อ). The students ask for help to the spirit in order to pass exams (บน). They succeed to pass their exams but forget to thank the shrine spirit (แก้บน). Ek has a vision of Thai soldiers walking. They meet a young man called Kwai and befriend. They all see a traditional Thai dancer being a ghost. She is coming from the shrine dancers figurines placed in front of the shrine. Waen has an electrical shock. Waen remains shocked and paralyzed. Kwai falls from motorcycle as the ghost teases him (โดนผีหลอก). A spirit doctor informs them that the spirit is looking for revenge as they didn't retribute properly despite their wish was granted. The spirit appears to most of them. Afraid, they are now willing to appease the spirit and redeem a vow to the spirit but they cannot perform the ceremony as the tree has been cut! The friends are looking at what happened to the tree and how the wood was used. The sawmill sold it to somebody else already. It was sold to a company selling coffins. The coffin is sold already. They steal the wood in the Buddhist temple before the coffin is cremated. Roots are appearing around Waen. Ceremony is done to soothe the spirit by using the wood used to make the coffin. Waen recalls dreams he had about soldiers from Rama V period. Bawdy sequence occurs when all friends has to eat a ปลัดขลิก one by one to prove their innocence. Waen is possessed by Plaeng (Chatchai Plengpanich). They took the wrong wood, so the spirit is not soothed. The wood was finally used to do toothpicks. Plaeng was an officer and was betrayed by his friends. His spirit entered the huge tree in the village. His friends couldn't save him. Ceremony to appease the spirit is done by using toothpicks. Finally, the ghost accepts to rebirth.

They try to find Chaba's old house in order to give proper funeral to her dead body. But Chaba is not dead. She is staying in a home for elderly people . Chen, finding a hidden cut tape, realizes that the actress really dies during the movie shooting. All those who watched her death shall die, including Peoll and Chen... This movie is in fact a prequel to the 2005 Art of The Devil 2. A family was having happiness after the birth of a son and a daughter. By using a man expert in black magic, they transfer the spirit of Duean inside the body of Panor. She doesn't accept her new body and wishes to take revenge on her previous family. She kills them one by one through usage of black magic despite the attempt of the expert to stop her. There is a strong analogy on flesh during lust and on bloody flesh used in noddle soup... A debt collector always bothers and threatens Bout to get paid relating old debts from her former husband. One evening she kills him and uses his flesh in noodle soup also. The young man understand after a while why she stockpiles sedatives from his pharmacy. She uses sedatives to put to sleep her victims before chopping them. He discovers Bua's body in a big jar. In fact Bout is crazy as Bua is dead since a long time already. Bua is only alive in her imagination. The young man sends her to police but without tangible proofs, Bout cannot be arrested. She is released and is looking for revenge over her former boyfriend and his new girlfriend. She kidnaps the girlfriend in her bloody cellar containing so many corpses... Main actress is famous Thai pop singer Mai Charoeunpura. Her performance is so striking that the pity over her sad life surpasses the horror due to her bloody killings. The film has been cut by Thai censors as the censors worried the film story could jeopardise the popularity of Thai noodle soup! The original Thai title was ก๋วยเตี๋ยว เนื้อ คน meaning "human meat noodles". The Thai title has to be changed to เชือด ก่อน ชิม meaning "carve before tasting".

The movie starts with a strong opening. A middle age man gets suicide. A photo journalist, called Dao, takes pictures of a business arguing between two men. One man is shot. As Dao has seen the scene, she is also shot. But Dao is safe with no injuries. Her father just died. He is in fact the man who commits suicide. In the hospital morgue, her father wakes up and is sent to reanimation room. Strange night for Dao with two dead peope who finally wake up (ตายไม่ได้ตาย). The father killed his wife as she was suffering in terminal phase. Dao didn't meet her father for 15 years as she never forgives him. Wout is a policeman who is supporting Dao. Some journalist friends talk to her about lost spirits (วิญญาณ) that are wandering around refusing to die, refusing to be born. Dao is enquiring on those mysteries but a hitman is also chasing her regarding the embarrassing pictures she took. She then understands that her father died for her instead of her. Unfortunately the hitman finds her...

As he apologizes (ขอโทษ) sincerely and claims his true love to Mem, the ghost forgives and spares his life. Finally as Ken continues his butterfly behavior, he falls with his new girlfriend from his condo to his death. Mem was also responsible of Min's death. This movie highlights the paparazzi bad practices and is a gory warning to butterfly men.

Then the drug has leaked and they become zombies. The two tourists and truck drivers are running for their life... Fourth story is about a garage lady owner, Nut, who is selling second hand cars. Those cars already have a deadly accident. She is concealing the truth to her customers. Some customers died as the cars were nice outside but not repaired inside. Nut is looking for her daughter that always like hiding in cars. Ghosts come to have revenge of having been sold a broken car. They take revenge over her daughter. The fifth story is the most funny and Ironical. It takes place on the shooting of Thai horror movie "Alone 2" (แฝด 2). The actress playing the ghost dies at hospital. The show must go on. The team needs to finish the movie to ease the ghost. Thainess is well shown in those 5 small movies. Phobia 2 was very popular and did 113.5 millions baht revenue in 2009.

This movie is a Thai Taiwanese production. Suriyong is working in a caretaker shop and is rejected by the society. He has always ghost visions. Following a deadly fight in Taipei, Suriyong wakes up in a Thai hospital but in somebody else’s body! He is now Asanee. He cannot remember he is married to a lady called Nakhun. He cannot speak Thai also. A Thai doctor speaking Chinese is assigned to his case. Doctors believe Asanee lost his memory (บ้าอะไร) as he cannot remember anything. Back home Nakhun doesn't believe Suriyong and tries to shoot him believing he is Asanee trying to hit her again. A mysterious secret prevails. Suriyong goes back to work as Asanee was a clerk. Some mysterious administrative letters are given to him. It seems ghosts (a woman smashed by a car, a little girl) want to give him messages. His office is inside an old administration building perfect for a scary setting. Suriyong understands he needs to stamp the letters that are in fact death certificates (ทำหน้าที่ตอบแทนเขา). Suriyong through stamping the certificates (คนปล่อยวิญญาณ) allows the spirits to have a rebirth. It seems his wife, Nakhun, has a mysterious secret towards him as Asanee’s best friend seems not so happy to see him back. Nakhun convinces Suriyong to go for a Buddhist exorcism. It takes place during the Tattoo festival at Wat Bang Phra. Monks prayers fail to liberate Suriyong. There is an impressive 360 degrees shooting inside the temple. Suriyong investigates on Asanee’s past. The doctor also conceals a secret. Suriyong understands he has the right of life or death on people (คนอยากตาย). By stamping the certificate, Suryong can become Yama, the hell guardian, and can shorten people life and sufferings. Same as Asanee before, Suriyong starts to take pleasure by killing people (สนุกฆ่าคน). Things turn badly. Asanee's body is posseded by Asanee's spirit again and Suriyong’s spirit is expelled. Only the doctor can see him. Asanee tries to kill Nakhun again. The only way to stop Asanee is to stamp his death certificate. Suriyong, thanks to the doctor help, can stop Asanee on time and recovers his body. Nakhun then shots Suriyong as she has a lover. Both Asanee and Suriyong are now really dead and Nakhun can enjoy the heritage with her lover.

This movie is based on four real sensational and lurid stories. It is surfing on the Phobia movies serie (5 แพร่ง / สี่แพร่ง) success. It is featuring four small episodes with different directors. ตายโหง (Tai Hong) are spirits who died following a violent death. 1) On New Year's Eve a party is taking place in a disco. A fire happens. A young man, called Em, survives to the fire and has vision of dead people that haunts him. His girlfriend died during the fire as she was was stuck in the restrooms. There was only one exit. Finally both of them already died during the fire... It is based on real event that occurred on December 31, 2008 in the Santika Club nightclub in Bangkok where 66 people died. 2) A young man is sent to prison. He has visions and hears voice. It is a scary prison with frequent suicides. He was sent to jail because he raped and killed a young lady. Finally unable to withstand the horrible visions pressure, he suicides himself. 3) A mute young man receives a visit from a young girl. A financial transaction happens between both of them. She dies in his flat. He hides the corpse inside the building water tank. Then he has visions of her dead body. As the body starts to putrefy, people living in the building start to drink or shower with the water from the tank and finds body residues. One young lady investigates but the mute young man tries to drown her in the water tank. He is finally the one to get sunk by the ghost... 4) A prostitute (Mai Charoeunpura) brings two men in a motel room. While they are taking a shower, she talks to the old caretaker, who mentions presence of Phi Tai Hong (ผีตายโหง) in the motel. A corpse is found in the motel room. This episode is the most comic one. It mixes real and fake ghosts.

The horror movie will be shot there. A bad omen is welcoming them as police is just extracting a dead body from the sea. Their hotel resort is quite empty as it is low season. The film producer is also the owner of the resort. The friends leave the hotel after seeing a ghost at nighttime. Going back, they inform Sree that they read in a newspaper that Oof jumps to his death from a building! Once the movie is shot, a romance starts between Sree and the film producer. Following a fight, Sree stabs Oof. When her sister is back to the room, Sree also kills her. Sree always had animosity against her beloved sister as she loves stealing things from her such as her doll many years ago or recently the resort owner... Having another ghostly vision, she stabs the resort owner trying to help her. While putting the bodies inside a big hole, she falls inside due to the sloppy soil caused by heavy rain. She gets crushed by a spirit house. Ananda Everingham appears after the credits. He was a former boyfriend of Sree. The same director made the movie “My Ex” (แฟนเก่า) in 2009 related also to a former girlfriend coming from grave and looking for revenge.

He gets the highest grade. But there is nothing free in this world, so sooner or later Tong and Yong will have to pay back... Yong's food starts to be filled of foetus parts. Tong starts to seduce many girls at the same time but he starts to see them as dead spirits. While trying to axe them, he is shot dead by the police. Koff gets his legs and arms broken by the spirit. Doctor and his girlfriend O believes it is an accident. After getting the truth from Yong, O finally believes in this ghost story. Yong dies in the same fire he burnt the “kuman thong” doll. O finds the man that makes the dead lady pregnant. He dropped her as he was married already. She died by accident when falling from the stairs following an argument. The spirit then takes revenge on Koff as he didn't help her when she was missing oxygen and even had necrophilia with her. O is then stabbed by a crazy guy in the hospital as she didn't help when Koff was endangered. All people involved in this sad story die. Only Koff survives but he becomes crazy.

Kit buys a gun as they got burglary by a young man with a ghost mask. The family starts to have financial problems. Family is stressed. The mother-in-law brings nuisance and Kit has issues with his teen daughter. Kit loses his job but doesn't dare to tell his wife Pan and has to accept a job as sweeper in a 7eleven. He even starts to doubt about his wife. He starts to believe in ghost stories after seeing it also (ผีลอก). His daughter finds that her father is working in the 7Eleven. Pan decides to go back to work causing Kit to be unhappy as her previous boss was always pushy. The violent neighbour kills his whole family following a factory failure. Pan doesn't want to stay in Ladaland anymore. The dead family ghosts can also be seen. Most of the people have quit the village. There is even no guard. The couple is on verge to split. The wife Pan decides to go back to Bangkok to stay with her mother. Nen is back but sent to hospital following a crisis seeing a ghost. Being alone with his son while his wife is at hospital, ghosts trap Kit. Finally following a trick of the ghosts, Kit believes he has shot his own son. He shoots himself. Tragical end for one of the biggest Thai box office success in 2011 with 110M Baht. This movie also got 6 awards during Subhanahongsa Awards ceremony 2012.

She is informed by other students and sends Kwan in hospital. The little invisible sister spirit starts to invite Yinmai to play dangerous games causing fear to her parents. The husband puts an infrared camera in the bedroom. Strange pictures are captured. At evening time, the temple caretaker burns bags containing foetuses in the crematorium. As the crematorium mysteriously stops working, the caretaker has to stock the numerous dead foetuses in a filthy place. The abortionist sees herself as helping the society. The spirit gets revenge over the abortionist as it prevented the spirit to rebirth through the baby. The abortionist knows it is a sin (เป็นบาป) but she does it for money (เงิน). Abortionist and temple caretaker are arrested by the police. The mother is also possessed by the spirit. Both Yinmai and her mother disappear. The father finds them in the Buddhist temple but he is overwhelmed by dead foetuses spirits. The husband stays in coma as a karmic consequence of his bad actions. In fact, he forced his mistress to abort as she was getting pregnant. This movie is based on a real story. Abortion in Thailand is illegal. In year 2010, 2002 dead foetuses, wrapped in plastic bags, have been found in a Buddhist Temple's mortuary rooms. The discoveries made big noise in Thailand and shown the huge scale of illegal abortions. In Thailand, the abortion procedure is only allowed when delivery would endanger the mother or if the pregnancy is due to a rape.

In the first story two teens get their grandfather's heritage following his sudden death. Strange events happen in the house. One of the girls’ boyfriend disappears. The gardener is accused. The governess suggests that the grandpa spirit won't let anybody get the heritage. The story is presented in a similar way as mute movies from decade 1920-1930s when dialogue was shown through some short text interludes. The lawyer tries to open the safe and finds four corpses inside. The owner's four daughters, who disappeared before... In another safe, the lawyer finds gold but he dies in the swimming pool. The policeman helping the teens is in fact interested by the gold also. They finally all die. The second story is about cashiers in a convenience store, who have all died tragically. Four deaths in two months happened. The owner's daughter accepts to help her father and takes care of the shop during daytime. There are some ghosts (ผี) cashier. She finds herself locked in the shop and is chased by spirits. In the third story a young lady gets killed by her boyfriend in the lift (นรกชั้น8). So her spirit starts to despise all men and gets revenge on those trying to repair the lift. Last episode mixes humor and reminds of movies previously directed by Yuthlert Sippapak such as Buppha Rahtree serie. All episodes have a common theme of getting footages through surveillance cameras.

A middle age man owner of a pawn shop (โรงจำนำ) is having issues with his wife always complaining. Asking to become rich to his small spirit altar, the spirit accepts his request but he must kill his wife. Two young ladies including Som accept also to pay respect to ghost. They sell their soul (วิญญาณ) to the ghost (จำนำตัวเองกับผี). A lady customer looking to pawn her belongings accepts 1M baht if she also pays respect to the ghost. Dao and her boyfriend often argue. Many people including the boyfriend (Krissada Sukosol) accepts to pledge to the spirit versus 1M baht as they are in desperate need of money. Krissada boasts to be not afraid (ไม่กลัวมัน). They are put in a locked room and are facing their worst nightmares. The movie features beautiful graphics and sound. There is doubt if their scary visions are reality or nightmares. Krissada killed a young girl by accident by hurting her with his car at night time. He exchanges his life against the little girl's life (ปัญหาแห่งความตาย).

Thai horror movie น้ำมันพราย (Spell) was released in 3D version in year 2014. A monk is coming from Cambodia bringing real oil corpse. A young lady called Phrae (Wanida Termthanaporn) is working in an office. The boss always tries to seduce her. Phrae's mother is at hospital and is paralysed. The uncle (Kowit Wattanakul) would like to sell the house but Phrae is not willing. A coworker called Lek is fond of Phrae but she treats him as a friend only. Somebody suggests him to try oil corpse (น้ำมันพราย) to attract Phrae. Lek tries it on Phrae but it ends up tragically as Phrae becomes a fearful spirit (พี่หลอก) without being aware. Lek dies and his body disappears. Police enquiries and is wary about Phrae as she is the last to have seen Lek. The boss lies about Phrae hoping to get favour (บุญคุณ) from her. He brings her to a restaurant and drugs her. The boss tries to rape her but Phrae becomes a fearful spirit again causing the boss to flee. Meanwhile her stepfather tries to sell the house and is having affair with a younger girl. Surprising her stepfather, he finally expels her. Phrae meets again a former friend Thana that she loved when being a student many years ago. Love happens again. The boss finally gets suicide in the police station. The Cambodian monk being in jail at the same time explains to the police inspector the origin of the corpse oil. The policeman informs Phrae that she is probably possessed (โดนของ). Lost, Phrae finally finds Thana in bed with another woman. Upset, the spirit causes Thana to die also. Phrae finally flees away asking the policeman to focus on more important cases than flirtatious men (ผู้ชายเจ้าชู้).

Perth loved Ice but it couldn't be reciprocal as Tan was already her boyfriend. Ice's mother lits a big incense stick to let Ice spirit find back her home. Finally as the story goes forward, it is found that Ice broke up with Tan. As it wasn't really official, Tan still wishes to enquiry and repair Ice's mobile phone to find data on her facebook account. Perth's mother is pregnant with Perth's swimming teacher. As Ice was pregnant, they finally resolved to abortion. Ice changed mind at last minute. To avoid being suspected by Tan, Perth puts the blame on another university student, who is beaten. Perth starts to have terrific visions and even to believe he is pregnant himself. Suspicion goes on Perth. Perth starts to believe Ice spirit wants to rebirth. Ice took a strong medicine to kill the fetus and Perth buried it. Finally it is understood that Ice wanted to go back with Tan. As Perth refused, a fighting happened and Ice broke accidentally her neck. Perth transformed this into a suicide. On the wedding day, she is crying at night time and mumbling mantra while holding the necklace. The bed is shaking and it seems there is somebody in the wardrobe. On following days, wishing to make a surprise to Ploy, Veun removes her necklace to replace it by a gold necklace. It causes a big mess as she asks it back immediately. Veun realises Ploy becomes a ghost at nighttime and hits her trying to escape the ghost. Ploy tells it started to happen when she visited Kalong waterfall a few years ago. Her own mother is aware but hid this to Veun’s family. Not willing to cause any more problems, Ploy decides to leave. She finally gets reunited with Veun. Ploy and Veun decide to see a monk and also a witch doctor (หมอผี) to get hints to get rid of ghost. The monk believes Ploy is facing double personality syndrome. A little monk is seen near Ploy when she faints near the river bank. Veun brings Ploy to honeymoon in order to find a solution far from his mother. While possessed, Ploy always says a weird sentence. Later on, a policeman identifies that it means “i want to go home” in Burmese language. Veun brings Ploy to Kalong waterfall and has to face the Burmese spirit wishing to bring Ploy with him. Thanks to the little monk’s support, the spirit is pushed back and finally leaves this world with the little monk. Ploy and Veun can be happy and have a child for the grandmother.

They use a master (อาจารย์) to chase the bad spirit but to no avail. They decide to quit the house as it becomes too dangerous (ผีบ้า). Ann comes a last time and has horrible visions of the murders that occurred before. Another medium tells her that the spirit doesn't want a house spirit anymore but the whole house (บ้านกู) as his strength has been increased by the previous deaths. The movie ends tragically with Inn possessed by the spirit and hurting his own family...

He ends up chained with Tor. Meanwhile Jack has disappeared looking for Bi. Ton and Tor take refuge in a remote Buddhist temple but Ton doesn't want to stay as he is looking for Jack. They see a man stealing gold teeth from corpses. Everybody has his karma to pay for (กรรมมัน กรรมใคร). Ton has horrific visions as he stole the gold coin. A lady visits the monk asking him to disrobe (ศึก) and to honour his promise to marry her. As he refuses, she intends to do whatever necessary to have him disrobed. Ton vomits a coin. Ton, Tor and Bi are linked together in a previous life (กรรมในอาทิตย์) through the father, the monk and the lady. They need to give back the coin. The father imprisoned the young lady as she refused to forget his son. He hit and raped her. He finally attached her to a drowning boat and the young monk didn't help her. During this life, it is time for Ton to pay for his bad karma from previous life. The ghost of the lady prevents him to escape from his car sinking in the river. Tor survives as he helps the lady in this life.

A teacher is her boyfriend but he refuses to take responsibility (ช่วยไม่ได้). Romance does happen between Mon and the spirit despite they cannot see each other. An evil spirit tries to prevent Mon to investigate. Ann gets suicide as she was harassed by other schoolmates and humiliated by the teacher uploading a naked picture of her on Facebook. Mon asks the spirit to help her. Frightened by ghost visions, the teacher goes to Police and unveils he is the one, who uploaded the picture. At the same time, Mon discovers who killed Run Phi. A Thai princess (ท่านหญิง) loved a common man, i.e. Doctor Saneu. Their daughter (หนู) Daeng was terrorized by the princess so she pushes her in the swimming pool. Daeng became the Catholic school headmistress. Doctor Saneu always wishes to protect his daughter Daeng so killing all who investigate this murder case. As the case is now resolved, Run Phi can now quit this world. This movie got a few Thai cinema awards such as Best director.

Three young men including Lui, Suk and Nella (a funny gay character), are working on a cargo boat. Some crew men bring goods to the boat. The three young men find a dead young lady in a box. They are not willing to tell other members as they are worried to be killed. A woman can be heard crying. Weird events happen on the boat. They all have horrific ghost visions (โดนผีหลอก). The young lady body has disappeared (ศพหาย!). They suspect the son of the boat's owner as he was seen having arguments with his girlfriend, called Mia, and his hand is stained with blood. If they bring more troubles, the boat owner threatens to throw them in the deep sea. Finally the three friends find that Nit was hiding his wife Mia in his room (หนี). She was not dead but simulated to be a ghost to frighten the crew. The father is upset and jails his son and wife. Another crew Phi Bi is behaving weirdly. It seems there are real ghosts on the boat. A ceremony is organised to detect who the ghost is. Multiple ghosts are in fact present on the boat. The engine is now off. Phi Noon killed Phi Bi so Phi Bi is looking for revenge. His body is found. Ruffian Tao arrives by speed boat and threatens the father. Nit is found to be dead already. Shooting happens and Nella is injured. The father is shot. Suk has betrayed his friends with Tao. Tao gets lynched by the ghosts led by Nit. Through a final scene, Nit and Mia have to split as they belong to different worlds.

They haven't seen Noi for years. Villagers are worried as several deaths occurred recently. Elders are suspecting a Krasue ghost (กระสือ). One evening, Sai and Cheut meet with Noi. Noi is among a group of hunters looking to kill Krasue ghosts. Villagers shall close their shutters at nighttime. Strangely, Sai's home shutters are opened in the morning despite she closed them, and blood was found on her bed. Sai vomits blood. A buffalo is found dead. Cheu joins the hunters to train on weapons. Noi claimed there was a Krasue in his village in order to come back. Noi wishes to be a doctor. Cheut loves Sai. Sai is feeling unwell. A baby is stolen. Noi sees the Krasue going to Sai's house and understands Sai is the Krasue ghost that hunters are looking for. Noi thinks about fleeing so Sai is disappointed. Finally, he changes his mind and decides to help Sai to recover. Every day, he brings chicken to the Krasue at nighttime to avoid it flies away looking for food. The hunters are puzzled as the Krasue has disappeared. Meanwhile the village Buddhist monk recommends to Noi to find special herbs for Sai. One day, a little girl gets cured at the village hospital. She drinks in the same glass used by Sai and gets infected. At nighttime, she becomes a Krasue. The hunters kill it and are aware that the little girl went to hospital the day she died. They suspect Sai. Sai and Noi flee to find the medicinal herbs near the old scary house. Sai eats the herbs. Upset to see Noi and Sai kissing, Cheut punches Noi. Meanwhile Sai goes inside the home and understands how she became a Krasue before. Becoming a Krasue again, she chases the hunters away. Cheut tries to interpose against the hunters but gets beaten. Most of the people in the hunting camp are found dead. The head of hunters accuses Sai. Sai accuses him of trying to rape her. As Cheut acknowledges this statement to protect Sai, the head of hunter is banned from the village. Cheut gets punished by the head of hunters, who is in fact a Krahang (กระหัง). Sai keeps eating medicinal herbs to prevent becoming a Krasue but it runs out. Meanwhile Cheut is achieving his transformation into a Krahang. Sai and Noi are considering fleeing. On the due date, Sai's parents bring her to see outdoor movie so she cannot flee. Having no more herbs, she becomes a Krasue again causing people to flee. The head of hunters try to kill Sai but Cheut opposes. He gets killed. As Noi interposes also, Sai helps and a monk shoots the head of hunters. Meanwhile villagers hit badly Sai's body. The monk recommends them to flee as they are chased by an angry mob. Reaching a boat, Sai refuses to leave further. They both know Sai's body is damaged beyond repair. Cheut's father shoots at the Krasue...

The ghosts catch him, and he ends up hanged under the main entrance of the temple. Four former students, including Kot / Nong / Balloon / First, meet in a bus. Three of them are katoey (กะเทย). The bus driver sees in his mirror that one of the young men, Kot, has no head anymore, meaning he will die soon. The driver faints and the bus has an accident. Kot dies in the crash. Nong's father wishes his son to ordain, but he is not willing. Finally, a monk convinces him. The three young men decide to ordain to pay respect to their friend Kot, who just died. The chosen temple is just near the bus crash location. This is the Buddhist temple, where the young man willing to ordain was found hanged. A monk gives an amulet to Nong, saying it will be useful in the future. Many strange events (แปลกๆ) occur in the Buddhist temple. Ot is a temple boy helping the temple abbot. Temple funeral happens for the young man found hanged. Only his sister joins as their parents are dead. Nong likes the young lady. Friends First and Balloon are responsible for keeping the dead body during nighttime. First and Balloon are afraid of ghosts (ผีหลอก). The body has disappeared from the coffin, but they find it back. They discover that nobody ever ordains in this Buddhist temple. All people about to become ordained (นาค) die first. The three friends start to be worried as they only ordain to pay merit to defunct (บวชแก้บน) and not to become monk (บวชพระ). Some local people complain that กะเทย cannot ordain. They face a crazy aunt in the Buddhist temple taking care of a shrine (ศาล). She believes Nong is a young man she wrongly recognizes. The spirit warns Nong not to ordain if he doesn't want to die. The abbot tells them it is still very important to ordain. It is related to the Buddhist story regarding Nak (นาค - people who are going to the Buddhist temple and about to become ordained). As the spirit is a Nak unable to ordain, he refuses that anybody else can ordain. The abbot is found dead in his cell. The ordination ceremony for the three friends shall continue to support the novice and the temple boy. Tui. Balloon’s boyfriend breaks up with Balloon by SMS. Balloon is upset and destroys the shrine through a crisis. The three friends start to understand the story. A few years ago, a mother was bringing his son, a former ruffian for ordination in this Buddhist temple. Her son died while being ordained. She has become crazy since that time. They finally repair the shrine to ease the spirit. On the following day, they shall ordain. First's father is coming. The spirit is still upset and wishes to kill them. As the spirit wishes to ordain, they open the grave but cannot find the body. In order to ease the spirit, they do perform an ordination ceremony through an iPad with a remote abbot as the local abbot is dead. But it fails as one of the questions is about if the candidate to ordination is human or not. A ghost is not human (ไม่ได้เป็นมนุษย์). Finally the spirit listens to his mother and accepts to leave this world. The ordination of the 3 friends can happen peacefully.

The Buppha ghost saga continues with two new opus in 2009. In 2009, Buppha 3.1 and 3.2 were released. Lang, a teenager, can see ghosts since he is a child. He breaks up with his girlfriend as she is fed up with those ghost stories. Then he moves to a new place, the old factory building where Buppha used to live. In parallel, a little girl is always teased by her schoolmates. She fell in the stairs. When she wakes up, she is not the same. Buppha spirit is reincarnated in her body. She goes back to the building where she lived in Buppha 1 and 2. She then goes on rampage on the building residents by frightening them or killing them. Bupha either do her killings in the body of the little girl or inside the body of Buppha. In the building, there is an underground illegal casino. The comical psychic (หมอผี) Master Kong, who is now running for governor of Bangkok, tries again to chase Buppha spirit away but as usual fails. Lang meets Buppha and recognizes her as the teacher, who helped him a few years ago. He is fond of her. Nowadays Thai horror movies are either comedy comic oriented or scary oriented but Buppha is a unique mix of Thai comedy and gory horror. In such modern horror movie, ghosts are not afraid of Buddhist incantations (maybe related to numerous modern scandals in which monks were involved so they lost some respect from people and ghosts also) and especialy when those incantations are said with a hip hop trend!

Police comes again with the support of monk Luang Phi Teng (หลวงพี่เท่ง). Luang Phi Teng is the main character from "The Holy man" movie, which was a top hit in 2005. Luang Phi Ten is giving blessing to the police (ให้กำลังใจ - รับพร). The monk is entering the building with them. The police wishes to capture the little girl ghost but she continues her killing rampage with the policemen. The monk and remaining policemen flee also. The embalmed jumping corpse is now inside the casino den. Afraid customers are fleeing and leave their money behind. A Chinese customer uses a Chinese baby spirit (กุมารทอง) to get back the money. The Chinese spirit is not as strong as the Thai spirit and gets smashed. Lang loves Buppha, who is already dead. His soul (วิญญาณ) is gone to search for Buppha. A monk brings him back to human world. Despite advise from monk not to go to the building again, Lang flees from hospital to meet Buppha. A new exorcist master (อาจารย์) from Cambodia goes to room 609 in the building. They are all killed. Finally a traditional hermit (ฤาษี) with his hunchback is brought by Lang's friends. The comic hermit has difficulty to fight against the strong spirit (ของแรง). The father is burning (เผาศพ) the body of his small daughter causing the killings to stop. Buppha Rahtree 3.2 continues the same recipe including an unique mix of Thai comedy and gory horror. It is more fun than Buppha 3.1

Thai movie บุปผาอาริกาโตะ was released in year 2016 and lasts 1h35mn. The movie takes place in Niseko, Japan. Movie director is Yuthlert Sippapak. Rose (Supassra Thanachat) finds her boyfriend Matt sleeping with another woman. She kills Matt by revenge. The action moves to Japan. Fake Thai Buddhist monks in Japan visit an inn in order to exorcise it as it has bad business. One of them is even carrying a Louis Vuitton bag as reminder of a religious scandal in 2013 in Thailand. There is really a ghost in the house, .i.e. a Japanese female ghost wearing a mask. Monks run away and the owner is still concerned that his inn is possessed. Rose is now staying in the same inn in Japan. The owner, called Mae, finally rents the inn to six young Thai men planning to film a movie in Japan. One of them is a singer called Jack (Charlie Trairattana). Two of them see a Japanese ghost (ผีญี่ปุ่นแม่ลูก). Jack just split with his girlfriend. Rose is also tenant in the same inn so they meet each other and love occurs. The mother’s owner hires another master (อาจารย์) to chase the ghosts away. It is a fake master again, who flees after seeing the real ghosts. Rose has disappeared. Only her passport is left. Her name is displayed as Buppha Ratree! The six young men leave the house after seeing the ghosts also. They take refuge in the owner's house. Jack sees a lady lying in the cave after having a ski accident. It is Rose but her spirit is away. The owner Mae sends a Japanese master to get back their belongings. He identifies three ghosts in the house, i.e. Rose, the mother and her child. Funny interludes occur with the ghost playing Line (ผีLine) or cleaning the house with a vacuum cleaner. The guys have to go almost naked and hold an umbrella so that the ghosts cannot see them. Rose’s body is in Mae's home but her spirit (วิญญาณ) is still in the inn. Jack has to help Rose. The owner Mae is responsible of the situation as he kidnapped Rose. The movie ends up tragically with Rose being strangled by Mae, the Japanese master killed by Mae and Rose’s ghost saving Jack from Mae… Jack is back to Niseko to find Rose...
