The place called "WAT KHAEK" (วัดแขก) or "SALA KAEW KOO" is located in Nong Khai area. This unique place contains an amazing park. Giant 35 metres tall effigies of Buddha, Shiva, Ganesh, and virtually every other deity known to oriental religions dominate the landscape.
"SALA KAEW KOO" (ศาลาแก้วกู่)
is about 3 km. from Nong Khai on the
"Nong Khai - Phon Phi Sai" road. It is an unique place with numerous sculptures
according to Buddhist, animist and Brahmanic beliefs.

Up to three thousand tons of cement, all of it donated, had been used in the creation of the park.
"SALA KAEW KOO" has been founded by
"LUANG PU BUN LEUA SURIRAT"
(หลวงปู่บุญเหลือสุรีรัตน์)
in 1976. He has fled Laos
after the 1975 communist victory.
"LUANG PU BUN LEUA SURIRAT" is not a Buddhist monk.

"SALA KAEW KOO" is not a Buddhist temple. There is no monks
in saffron robe inside. The hall for sermons and the garden contain
many statues mixing Bouddhist, animist and Brahmanic influences.

The tallest statue in "SALA KAEW KOO" is a Buddha statue
protected by a huge snake. It is around 25 meters high.

"SALA KAEW KOO" is a green place with many plants such
as cactus and so on... "SALA KAEW KOO" entrance fee is 10 Baht for adults.
Money is used to take care about "SALA KAEW KOO".
