Choon is an Indonesian businessman. One evening, an Indonesian man puts a USB key in Choon's pocket. Ruffians led by Ed Carabao try to kill him. Kam Kon meets Choon by luck in a noodle soup shop. As the ruffians shoot people in the shop, Kam Kon helps Choon's bodyguard to push back assaillants with his sling. As Choon's bodyguard is shot, Kam Kon becomes his protector. The ruffians, led by the Indonesian ambassador, capture Choon's daughter. Taking the profit that Kam Kon goes to buy some food, the ruffians capture Choon. Ruffians features the Carabao group members, Thep Po-ngam and singer Ekkachai Srivichai. Kam Kon meets Dim (หรินทร์ สุธรรมจรัส) and relates what happened. Mobile phones have been exchanged by mistake and the USB key is now with Kam Kon. Ruffians threaten Choon and his daughter, but the USB key is not with him anymore. The ruffians identify that Kam Kon is a former commando soldier. Both groups identify their location thanks to the phone. Kam Kon calls his friend Pai (สิตางศุ์ ปุณณภพ) to support him. The group led by Kam Kon attacks the ruffians' secret location. Ruffians are defeated and Choon agrees for his daughter to marry Dim.

Taking place during the Ayutthaya kingdom period, villagers are gathering following a call from the village leader. The village features many transvestites. The village leader requires help from villagers to help the nation against the Burmese army. They refuse as they are afraid to die. Finally, seven villagers accept to join, including Deuan (Koeti Aramboy), Feng (Mum Jokmok), Krang, Krai, ติ๊ก กลิ่นสี, จิ้ม ชวนชื่น. The village leader (Suchao Pongwilai) assigns a master to train them. After a difficult training, they are ready for fighting. They leave the village towards the jungle. They face and defeat some Burmese soldiers. Disguised as Burmese soldiers, they enter the Burmese camp. Krang loses his girlfriend being killed by Burmese soldiers. They are missing their relatives in the village. Krai, being upset, shoots a few soldiers with his arrows, but gets captured. The team arrives in the Burmese king palace. They wear ladies’ clothes. They are finally uncovered and arrested by Burmese soldiers. Meanwhile the Burmese army goes towards the Thai village to crunch it. Thanks to the help of a Thai princess and a Thai monk held in the Burmese king palace, the team succeed in escaping following a daring escape from the Burmese palace. They are back on time to save the village, but most of them die like heroes. This movie is mixing comedy and action into an historical background.

Thai ministers are having meetings because of the French destabilisation tentative. Bunlue (Mum Jokmok) is joining those meetings. Bunlue's wife Bua believes he has a minor wife in Chiang Rai. Multiple romances occur between slaves and masters. Bunlue's daughter, Tarin, teaches to the slaves how to read. Bunlue leaves for Chiang Rai. Young lady Leng and the family doctor like each other. Bunlue's son, Tara, also likes Leng. Leng is unable to choose between the two men. Tarin and the slave Saphan like each other. Lady (คุณหญิง) Bua likes the slave Sin and they have an affair together. Saphan ends up having more knowledge than the master himself. One of the servants finds that Bunlue has a coffer full of lady jewels. The next day, Leng and her mother see Bunlue with a young lady coming from North of Thailand. Bunlue visits khun Visalai (Ekkachai Srivichai). The domestic helpers warn the main wife Bua about the Northern young lady (ติดผู้หญิง). Bunlue has political issues with opponents to his politics. It is Loi Krathong festival. Each couple is making a promise, i.e. Saphan and Tarin, the main wife Bua and Sin, Leng and the two men, i.e. the Doctor and Tara. Bunlue is seen again with the Northern young lady. The group follows the young lady, but she is finally the daughter in law of the prime minister. She is not Bunlue’s minor wife. All get whipped by Bunlue as they mess up wrongly in his personal duties. Bunlue understands that Bua and Sin have an affair together. Khun Luang tries to shoot Bunlue, but it fails. They finally kidnap Tarin to attract Bunlue. He gets knocked out and is thrown in the water, but he survives thanks to his two monitor lizards! All slaves (ทาส) get released, receive an official letter and some money from Bunlue. The movie highlights the end of slavery in Thailand under Rama V's reign.

Kham's (Tony Jaa) elephant is stolen as he refuses to sell it. His elephant is like a brother for him as they have been together since his youth. Kham follows the robbers up to Bangkok. He finds the leader but he has already been killed through a few severe hard punches. His two daughters (including Yanin Vismistananda), believing Kham killed their father, chase him. Kham meets again the Australian policeman (Mum Jokmok) but he lets him go knowing Kham is too nice to kill somebody. The ruffian having stolen the elephant is also an organiser of illegal fights. Through Bangkok, Kham is facing the ruffians through many thrilling fightings (against bikers on rooftop, in a factory, on metro railroad tracks, in a room on fire...). The ruffian leader is in fact working with some generals coming from a small kingdom. Following a rebellion in this Kingdom, a peace truce shall be signed in Phuket, Thailand. An elephant shall be given as a peace symbol. It is in fact Kham's elephant whose tusks have been filled with explosives. Many CGI are used in Tom Yam Koong 2 movie. A huge budget was spent but the box office sales were disappointing. Only 56M baht were reaped in Thailand. Even Tony Jaa didn't join the movie promotion in Thailand as he was already involved in “Fast and Furious” sequel 7. The movie was released in many other countries such as Hong Kong. Panna Rittikrai was also involved. Prachya Pinkaew was the director. It is a 1h44mn movie with non stop action. It took two years to be released.

A Korean couple (อาจารย์ Moon) was participating to Taekwondo events during Olympic games. The wife won her final but the husband failed. Twenty years have passed and they have now three kids. Two of them are now two grown up teenagers, i.e. Tayang and Tae Mi. The father Moon is having a Taekwondo school in Thailand and still trains them to excel in Taekwondo. A mysterious business man from Korea wishes to steal an old Thai blade (สมบัติของชาติ). Tayang sees the robbers and intervenes. The parents are also involved with the robbers’ driver. The blade is taken back but the robbers succeed to flee. Ruffians are looking for revenge and storm the Korean couple’s house. Tayang wishes to be a dancer and not a Taekwondo champion as requested by his father. The father failed to get a gold medal 20 years ago and wishes his son to get one. Uncle Bom (Mum Jokmok) brings the children outside Bangkok as it starts to be dangerous for them. They meet Wawa (Yanin Vismistananda), who is a Thai boxing champion (มวยไทย). Korean Taekwondo is meeting Thai boxing! Tayang flees at nighttime to join the last audition to become a dancer (dream project). While he is away, the campement is attacked. He helps on time but cannot prevent his youngest brother to be kidnapped. To get back his son, the father needs to exchange him with the precious blade to be stolen during an exhibition. Despite getting the blade, the head of the ruffians refuses to honor his promise. Final fights happen in Bangkok zoo. As often in modern Thai martial arts movies, fightings involve elephants. The movie director is Prachya Pinkaew, who directed Ong Bak. Panna Rittikrai is used again as action supervisor. The Kick (วอนโดนเตะ) was released in year 2011.

Panya (ปัญญา), young boy, and Raenu (เรณู), young girl, are school children in an Isan village. While studying, they have issues with another student who is cheating during exams. Raenu is protecting Panya against this student! It looks like Panya and Raenu will marry together when they will be adults. This movie nicely depicts Isan village life (วัฒนธรรมอีสาน). Panya steals fish in a neighbour rice field but gets punished by catching a disagreeable worm. The teachers are preparing school performances with molam music. Panya is the school molam singer. But they are not doing well due to lack of dancers and equipment. Panya secretly promises to ordain if his school wins. The bus of a Bangkokian school is damaged near the village. They have to stay overnight in the village school. Bangkok girls (เด็กกรุงเทพฯ) have difficulties to get used to Isan food. There is a contrast between Isan boys with dark skin versus Bangkok girls with white skin. They discover Isan village life (วีถีชีวิตของชาวอีสาน) and help on some tasks such as planting rice, bugs, snakes and lizards catching. As a puppy love starts between Panya and a Bangkok girl called Miu, Raenu is very upset with Panya (คนหลายใจ). Five husbands die the same night in the village. A Shaman (แม่หมอ) is called to understand what is going on. The shaman claims a ghost is around (ผีแม่ม่าย) so all men have to wear women clothes a few days in order to fool the ghost. Raenu claims to be possessed also in order to ask Panya to love Raenu only. Ghost belief is still strongly present in Isan. The school needs to find 100 000 baht to buy music instrument to be able to join the village Molam competition. Panya dreams to be a singer. Even the Buddhist abbot doesn't have such amount of money. Hopefully a layman donates 300 000 baht to the temple so the abbot can help the school. Monks are very close to the community. The village can then participate to the contest. Miu helps to bring a Bangkok teacher to help the students to dance properly. Panya's Bangkok friends even promise to join. There is then great molam performances with dozens of dancers and very entertaining songs at the contest (วงมอลำ). Thanks to late arrival of the Bangkok friends on a tractor, Panya's team wins. Even the member of Parliament (ส.ส.) dances! After the victory, some robbers enter in his parents' home. Panya gets shot and ends up at the hospital. Panya is finally saved as he is ordained by the abbot at the last minute. The power of faith in Buddha saves him as he could fulfil his earlier promise. This movie got 13M bath revenue in 2011. A version 2 (ภาค2) was released in 2012. Lao / Isan language is used with Thai subtitles. This movie reminds of “Mon rak luk thung” (มนต์รักลูกทุ่ง) and “Luuk Isan” (ลูกอีสาน). This movie is a great homage to Isan region and features a few famous Isan actors such as comic Mum Jokmok.

A young monk Anoon goes to visit his father as wandering monk (พระธุดงค์). He recalls his life while walking home. He remembers his twin brother, Anan, whose wife died while delivering a baby. He wishes to disrobe (สึก) as he lost abilities to find answers to people regarding life. While wandering in the forest, he meets a noble couple on horse and palanquin. The husband is found later dead in the forest. Bandit Singkham is caught. Before being sentenced, he narrates the story. Bandit (โจรป้า) Singkham, seeing the beautiful lady in the palanquin, wishes to have her becoming his wife so he needs to get rid of the husband Khun Seuk (Ananda Everingham). He claims to have some golden swords to sell. It is a trick to knock out the husband and then kills all guards. He rapes her in front of the husband and she takes pleasure at it. He doesn't kill them but the lady complains the bandit doesn't give credit to their rank (เกียรติ). Singkham finally releases the husband and offers him a duel to avenge his honor. Despite being a strong swordsman, the husband is defeated by the smart forest bandit. During the trial, the wife also narrates her story. She was the daughter of a domestic servant. Khun Seuk was fond of her because of her beauty and married her four years ago. Following the rape, Khun Seuk desigrates his wife. She is no longer worth causing her heart to broken as she is not responsible of this event. Did she kill her own husband as she claims? The tribunal uses a medium to know the truth from the spirit (ผี). Khun Seuk's wife asks bandit Singkham to take her with him and to kill Khun Seuk also (ใจดำ). Singkham refuses to do so. The wife flees. Singkham releases Khun Seuk but he cannot stop crying knowing his wife treachery. He finally kills himself. Who is telling the truth? A domestic helper Prasok passing by during the event finally tells the truth. The wife denigrates Singkham refusing to go either him or glare him. To proof his worthiness, the wife Sampai asks him to defeat Khun Seuk in a fight. Khun Seuk refuses to fight with Singkham as it is below his status. He complains his wife still remains a low level woman (ลูกคนครัว) as she accepted the rape instead of killing herself avoid him to lose face (ขายหน้า). Sampai remains alone as both men refuse to take her anymore. Both of them are not real men (ไม่ใช่ลูกผู้ชาย). Following a duel, Khun Seuk impales himself. The one getting the blade was Prasok himself to sell it to get money for his poor family. Prasok and the beggar teach the young monk a lot on humanity. The young monk finally stays in the monkhood. Movie "Kon Khon" (คนโขน) was Thailand's submission to 2012 Academy Awards. It was a controversial choice because of lack of critical acclaim and box-office success. Movie อุโมงค์ผาเมือง นางยั่วสวาท / The Outrage was not chosen as it is a remake of Akira Kurosawa's award-winning "Rashomon" (1950). “Rashomon" was translated into Thai by the statesman MR Kukrit Pramoj. The movie includes Buddhist themes related to jealousy, greed for women or for jewels, lies, human behaving like animal (สัตว์), hatred, ire, lie, lazy, simulation, cowardliness, weakness towards women cries, death, unhappiness (ความทุกข์), status of high people (ผู้ดี). Greed causes to lose finally everything.

Thai movie เท่ง โหน่ง จีวรบิน was released in year 2011. It lasts 1h26mn. Sia Nong (Chusak Aiemsuk) welcomes a Thai monk (Pongsak Pongsuwan) coming to Tibet by plane. A TV program announced that ruffians’ leader Somchai Sakdikul has escaped from prison. Inside the plane, there are also Tukkie (ตุ๊กกี้ ชิงร้อย) as air hostess, Mum Jokmok as pilot, Amina (อมีนา พินิจ) as secretary. They board in the plane but it is hijacked by Somchai (สมชาย เข็มกลัด). He forces all the men to jump from the plane except the monk and the secretary. The robbers target a safe belonging to Sia Nong. The plane lands in the Golden Triangle but the robbers are unable to open the safe. Thanks to coded sentences, the monk succeeds to find the first code. As a comic interlude, Akom Preedakul comes to buy drugs and weapons. A second code is needed to open the safe but the secretary Amina asks for guarantee for her and the monk. By saving a child having fever, the monk gets reconnaissance from the villagers as they believed the kid was possessed (ผีเข้า). The monk gets mystic power recognition (บรามีหลวงพี่). He succeeds to change the villagers’ mentality but Somchai is still his enemy. Somchai rebels against Sadikul. Sadikul lets them flee by plane. Fighting happens in the plane and the monk has to use a lingam (ลิงค์) to prevent petrol leaking. As a monk cannot touch a woman, he is unable to reenter in the plane… The plane finally succeeds to land miraculously. Sadikul goes to jail for 5 years and humbly recognised that having sacred amulets cannot help when you misbehave. Right behavior is inside the heart. This comedy still delivers a few key Buddhist messages.

Ong Bak 3 movie is a follow up of Ong Bak version 2 where Tien was defeated and captured by King Jom Rachan soldiers. Tien (Tony Jaa) is condemned to death by the King Jom Rachan (Saranyu Wongkrachang). His body is broken and beaten harshly. Insurrection is ongoing against the King Jom Rachan (พระองค์) but this latter eliminates all his opponents (Choomporn Theppitak). On the execution day, Tien is saved at last minute and sent to Ayutthaya. Bad omens are seen by the King. To try to influence the future, he sends some ninjas to kill Tien in Ayutthaya. They fail thanks to some courageous Ayutthaya soldiers. Thanks to Buddhist prayers, offerings, casting of a Buddha statue, dances and Buddhist monk's (Nirut Sirijanya) healing skills, Tien is cured. But full recovery is difficult. He considers suicide as he is almost infirmed. Through inner peace, meditation and efforts (ฝึก), he starts to recover management of his limbs. A new fighter take over the King Jom Rachan looking for power only (อำนาจ). Aware of Tien recovery, the new King sends soldiers to catch him and burns his village. Tien is wearing white clothes (purity) while the new King is wearing dark clothes (evil). Tien has no choice but to go to the King palace to defy him in order to release the villagers and his love. Following epic fights including jumping from one elephant to another or using real elephant tusks to fly, Tien defeats the evil King. As usual in Tony Jaa’s movies, actor Mum Jokmok is played a relief character. In Ong Bak 2 there was an action scene with two elephants. In Ong Bak 3, the actors were among more than 20 elephants. Tony Jaa introduces Nattayut in Ong Bak 3. It is a dharma martial art that can protect soul from bad deeds. It is a kind of meditation that can heal heart and soul.

Thai Horror comedy movie สาระแนเห็นผี was released in year 2010 and lasts 1h47mn. Doo (Mario Maurer) and his friend are out for fun in a discotheque in Bangkok. Following a misunderstanding, mafia leader Suchao Pongwilai is shot dead during an accident in the discotheque. Doo and his friend must flee. They kidnap young lady Ratree (Patcharapa Chaichua) to use her car. Ratree keeps drinking so it looks like she is heartbroken. They take refuge in a Buddhist temple. Thai Police is chasing them. Local undertaker (สัปเหร่อ) takes care of them and indicates a refuge where to go. Seua Pop (Mum Jokmok) is living there. The undertaker is a professional former hitman, so he is impressed by the young men, who dared to shoot a famous mafia leader! They receive bone powder in the eyes so they all can see ghosts now. Thai singer ศุภักษร ไชยมงคล has a small cameo role. Pop has also a strange family. They get shot at night time by an angry man. Pop and his family were in fact already dead. Surrounded by ghosts, Ratree and the two boys must flee again. Ratree meets her boyfriend (ไปกับพี่ / ไปกับผี). He is already dead also. Following an accident, his head hurt a pillar while Ratree was driving. She had hidden the body inside the car trunk. Her boyfriend, wishing to take her back, causes her car to have an accident. All are dead. Being ghosts, Ratree is now Doo’s girlfriend.

This movie is a comedy that explores the lives in front and behind the camera of Thai's film industry. Mum Jokmok has invited all the comic actors from decade 2000s such as Tukkie, Pongsak Pongsuwan, Akom Preedakul, Thep Po-ngam... Certainly not a 100 millions baht movie, which is the new mark for box-office hit for decade 2000s movies. Thep Po-ngam is Mum Jokmok's mentor. In 2009, the Court of Justice of Thailand affirmed Thep Po-ngam bankrupt so there is self irony when he visits Mum Jokmok to produce a movie. He finally only gets a role as actor. Mum Jokmok is responsible of a company making movies. Same as comic TV programs, there is a funny noise at each gag. Mum Jokmok is the director (ผู้กำกับ) and faces many comic issues to have the movie shot. It includes the ceremony (งานเลี้ยงปิดกลอง) for the blessing of a new movie. Various comic sequences happing during shooting and behind the stage. This movies looks like more a succession of sketchs linked with a Thai movie shooting background. It looks like more a TV comic program put on a movie stage. There is no real story.

It is a comedy about three men unfaithful to their wives. They always need to find excuses for their wives as they are coming back home late. Up to now their lies succeeded to convince their wives. Teng (actor Shahkrit Yamnarm) needs to find a new model. He finds a beautiful woman in a mall and takes pictures of her but forget to ask her contact references. Teng finally meets her in a bar. Her name is Sosi. Teng is expert to play the liar (สบายๆ) but Sosi is also lying. Her husband is called Sia. Finally Teng's two friends are uncovered by their wives as their lies were getting bigger and bigger (working late - OT, late meetings, fight against ruffians...). Proofs were stored in their blackBerry smartphones. To make him stop, one of the wife sings in a pub he often frequents and she accepts tips from customers (ทำประชด). Teng has a lovely wife called Bow but a love story is really starting between Sosi and Teng. Finally the male stratagems are discovered. They have to stay home and bring their wives to a holidays resort. But they cannot stop trying seducing other women. They use sedative drugs to make their wives fall asleep (ยานอนหลับ). The drugs don’t last enough and the three men are caught being with girls again by their wives. A final last chance is given. Sia is upset by Sosi’s behavior and wishes to punish her. Sosi’s brother calls Teng for help but Teng has promised to his wife to stop seeing Sosi. Teng and his friends try to rescue Sosi but are captured. Their wives, following them, are also captured. Sia forces them to play silly and humiliating games (mud game, paint game...) to save their husbands. Mum Jokmok, as a guest star apparition, makes them all released. Bow and Teng reconcile once again. But the three men cannot stop flirting (หลายใจ) when seeing beautiful women. Morality is kept as the husbands stays with their wife. There is a few comic guest stars apparition, i.e. Akom Preedakul, Note Chernyim, Mum Jokmok, Jaturong Mokjok. Former Miss Photogenic International Passorn Boonyakiat is playing one of the wives. There is a succession of gags similar to Thai TV comedy shows. This movie is about the old chauvinist Thai tradition to have minor wives (เมียน้อย). Gags are often over exaggerated with easy references such as the shy timid wife wearing glasses.

Chai identifies thanks to an old picture that Khuat (Jaturong Mokjok), a serious gambler, is his brother. Khuat is always involved in casino games (การพนัน). Khuat loves secretly Nong Muay. If he wins lottery, Khuat promises to do good deeds (ทำบุญ). Chai has supernatural skills since he falls in the river while being a novice. He can transform small items or make wishes to happen. Chai wishes Khuat to help to find money for his grandmother but he is more obsessed by Nong Muay. Khuat uses Chai to win while playing card games. Nong Muay is also indebted of 200 000 bath. Khuat pays it but the casino owner Sia asks for interest also! Khuat has promised to stop playing cards. Both Chai and Khuat are recruited as guards as they helped Mr Mongkol who had issues with casino owner Sia. His daughter called Lin is a bit plum and is keen of Chai. As Mongkol is always losing card games against Sia, he hires a champion from Hong Kong. A final game between Mongkol and the casino owner Sia shall happen and involves their whole fortune. As the Hong Kong champion has a deadly accident, Khuat needs to replace him. The daughter Lin and Nong Muay are kidnapped by the casino owner Sia. They succeed to escape. Finally Sia is defeated despite using a medium to change the cards and is losing all his fortune. The grandmother gambling debts were fake. It was a game in order to be reunited as a family with Khuat and Chai. Moralist end as all the money gains are given to charity.

Surasee Phatham has directed a remake of his own movie in 2009 as he was never happy with the number of details that were edited out. In “Rural Teacher” movie remake, most of the actors speak Isan / Lao language. The story is the same but many details have been changed. For the complete story, please read the above 1978 “Rural teacher” movie review. The village name has changed from Baan Nong Ma Wo (บ้านหนองหมาว้อ) to Baan Nong Hi Yai (บ้านหนองฮีใหญ่). The movie features many Isan country side ceremonies and customs such as lying by a fire after a child birth (to purify of all poisons and influences from ghosts), food (frog, snake, rice alcohol - เหล้าขาว). It reminds a bit of "A Child of the Northeast" ("LUK ISAN" - ลูกอีสาน) movie. Teacher Piya is now called Teacher Pichet. Teacher Pichit is now called Teacher Somchat. The headmaster is more funny and is played by actor Mum Jokmok. Famous action director Panna Rittikrai is also having a role as a strange man living away from the village. The headmaster plays lottery while teaching pupils. The children often miss school as they need to work for their parents or parents have no money to buy school uniforms for them. There are no chairs for children to sit. The headmaster and teacher Somchat need to ride horse to go to city. They need to buy their own teacher clothes. Pichet has pushed for the school modernization. New clothes offered by the local influential man owning the illegal logging concession. The main actor, Pichet Kongkarn, is a singer. He is singing a few songs related to Isan people leaving their village to go to work in cities and leaving behind grandparents to take care of babies, related to forest kindness (บุญคุณของป่า) or related to knowledge (ความรู้) and kindness (ความดี). Ruffians wear mask to frighten the villagers (ผีหลอก) so that they don't mingle inside the forest. Pichet finds poison in the forest. It is used by ruffians for people to get sick. Pichet finds the huge logging concession. The journalist head doesn't dare publishing the news and pictures. Pichet and the headmaster motivate the villagers to fight against the ruffians. A young journalist finally dares editing the news. Villagers fight with ruffians and one villager is shot. Panna Rittikrai can even show his fighting skills. The movie ends tragically for the teacher. The new version was released 2 days before National Teachers Day (วันครู) in 2010. The Culture Ministry, regarded "Kru Baan Nok" as a promotional tool and provided some support. As expected the movie didn’t raise as much interest as 31 years ago as Thai society has evolved. Thai film industry has become more and more centralized with a Bangkok mindset. Politics and social commentary are now divorced from pure entertainment movies. Students and young people are not concerned about politics as they used to be. The movie might have been more successful if the remake was taking place in 2010 and talked about modern issues as corruption and hitmen are still present nowadays. In 1978, teacher Thim Bun-ing was shot after denouncing a bribery at the school construction of his village in Satuek District (Buriram). A teacher and activist, Khru Thim fought hard to see that Isan children had more educational opportunities and more efficient educational programmes. A group of teachers in Isan, wanting to keep his ideology alive, established the Foundation in his memory in 1983. Maybe "The Rural Teacher" movie was based on this real story.

Ramon is a young lady. She is an English teacher in a HiSo family living in a palatial house. The family includes crazy domestics, a stammering son called Johnnie incapable to study hard during private English lesson, a lazy daughter called Maew, a mother (คุณหญิง) playing in illegal casino (บ่อน). Bow, young man, is fianced with Maew. The HiSo family wears exuberant clothes and has a high pitch tone when speaking. They all have funny long Thai names. The grandfather is sick but still has enough strength to hide four bunnies in his room. Ramon, the leading actress (นางเอก), is a poor lady bothered by the various jealous ladies. Johnnie's brother Phet, wearing a beautiful immaculate white suit, comes back from foreign countries. Maew and her mother (นางอิจฉา) dislike Ramon. Bow, despite being Maew's fiance, has high interest into Ramon. He offers her flowers and gifts causing Maew's ire. Bow asks Chet to act as an intermediate (พ่อซื้อ) to seduce Ramon. The HiSo family needs to think about Phet's wedding. During a family trip to Hua Hin, the mother and Maew use ruffians (ตัวกง) to injure Ramon but to no avail. The family has a declining jewelry business. Ramon makes new designs and Phet wishes to operate new business changes. Mysteriously Ramon's successful designs are stolen. During typical TV series, surprising announcements always happen on the last episode. So during the official collection launch, it is discovered that Ramon is a undercover policewoman. The family lawyer is dishonest and has stolen the jewelry designs. A wedding between Ramon and Chet can happily take place. This movie needs to be seen tongue in cheek as it is a satire of Thai TV serie / soap opera called locally 'Lakorn' (ละคร). It includes the leading actress (นางเอก), who is always a kind and nice person. She never kisses her boyfriend neither held his hand. The bad girl (นางอิจฉา) tries everything to be the main actor's girlfriend and always tries to get rid off the leading actress. She is often a stereotypical character who does not hesitate to do bad things to the leading actress. The leading actor is called พระเอก. A group of funny comedians (ตัวตลก) supports the leading actor. The funny comedians are represented here as 'katoei' (กะเทย - man dressed like a woman), who always has a silly but funny role to play. The movie is based on famous Thai TV series such as 'Baan Sai thong' (บ้านทรายทอง). It includes sickly sentimental music (รักเธอหมดใจ).

The three Thai comedy actors, Willie, Ple, and Hoi from popular prank show "Saranae," brought their TV show program on the golden screen. This show was very popular on TV, so the movie was also a big commercial success. It made 92M THB. A comic group hires two junior comics and perform pranks on them by using hidden camera. During 120 days, the two junior comics have to perform pranks on famous people such as comic actor Koeti Aramboy, Korean K-pop girl band called Baby Walk, Carabao Ed and comic actor Mum Jomok. A few years have passed since "Hello Yasothon 1". Yaem is now married and has three children. He is village headman (กำนัน). A new district officer (นายอำเภอ) is coming. His name is Palat and he is coming from Bangkok. He tries to seduce Yaem's daughter called Wae. Yaem's teen child provides hints to Palat to seduce his sister Wae. Yaem doesn't trust Bangkokian people, who speak sweet words too easily (คนกรุงเทพปากหวาน). The mother likes Palat but the father always interferes. The movie highlights the life in Isan (อีสาน ) area in the Northeast of Thailand through the village head activities, i.e. visit Buddhist temples, check rice fields, market, village silk craft, Bun bang fai festival (ประเพณีบุญบั้งไฟ). Palat needs to go back to Bangkok. Wae is pregnant with Palat. Yaem comes to Bangkok to ask his parents to take responsability. Meanwhile local ruffians steal the Buddha statue (Ong Bak as a funny reference to Tony Jaa's movie in which Mum Jokmok also played) from the local Buddhist temple and kidnap Yaem's wife and daughter. Yem and Palat help each other to neutralize the ruffians. This movie is an hommage to 1960s old Thai movies. Actors are wearing colorful clothes. This movie has an ambiance similar to "Mon Rak Lung Tung" (1970 - มนต์รักลูกทุ่ง) but with less songs and more comedy. Lao language and a Molam (หมอลำ) soundtrack are used. The movie is full of funny visual or wording jokes. It is also an hommage to Isan culture. Isan people shall be pround of their language and culture.

Seua is a sales manager, who acts badly in his life. He takes advantages of old people to sell them expensive goods and services. Following customers' complains, police tries to catch him. He flees to his home town, where his mother has found a wife for him but he has to become a Buddhist monk first. He has difficulty to get used to monk life (walk bare foot, eat whatever people offer you during morning alms, no comb...). At the same time, an egoist and rapacious old lady died in the village while trying to catch a jackfruit (ขนุน). Her ghost frightens all the villagers when they try to eat her jackfruit! Seua has to find solutions as the temple abbot is on trip. Seua starts to change his mind and behavior (promise to take care about his old mother, be nice to others, doesn't disrobe despite difficulties in order to help the villagers, understanding that ordination rite is an act towards the others - parents and community -). The ghost finally accepts its death. The police officer, understanding that Seua has changed his mindset, doesn't catch him. Seua finally marries a woman he truly loves.

Mam comes to Bangkok for the first time to search for a work. He can stay in the house of a relative. He come from Isan area and loves to eat Mama noodles. He wishes to learn Chinese language. Mam tries to be a hero by helping Fa assaulted by ruffians but she punched them before he can help. He buys new clothes to be more modern. Fa only calls him "uncle" (ลุง). He is lucky to win a gold ingot thanks to Mama noodles. With the money he buys a motorbike to impress Fa and brings her home after work but as he doesn't know to drive well so she has to drive herself! One day he gives her drugged orange juice as her mother suggests her father has done this way 40 years ago to seduce her mother. Anyway when she is asleep he doesn't dare to do anything and gets drugged also by drinking the orange juice. When he wakes up, he gets punched by Fa. He finally realizes that Dio lied to him. Dio is a kid from a rich family (ลูกเศรษฐี) living in the neighbourhood and playing tricks to everybody. Mam forgives him as Dio's parents have no time to take care about him. After a Chinese opera performance, Fa's boyfriend wishes to bring her back home and tries to drug her. Hopefully Mam and Dio were passing by and help Fa. The movie finishes on good mood with Dio getting sincere interest from his busy parents and Mam having Fa as girlfriend. Mum Jokmok has already tried romantic comedies with movie "midnight love" in 2005. The issue regarding the orange juice to force a woman might prevent it to be a real family comedy.

Mon is unhappy that Boom forgets their friendship for a girlfriend. This movie has themes about friendship and love, about mixed feelings (สับสนความรู้สึก). They succeed to find a job in a Chinese restaurant. One customer is Mum Jokmok having issues with his wife while dining with his mistress. This movie includes all the major Thai comic actors that can be seen in 2000s decade movies (actor Mum Jokmok, actor Sang Tong See Sai - สังข์ทอง สีใส - famous for his ugly face, actress Duang Ta having biased eyes, actor Arn Terdterng - อ่าง เทิดเทิง - with his famous stammering speaking, actor Note Chernyim โน้ต เชิญยิ้ม, actor Somchai Sakdikul - สมชาย ศักดิกุล ...). There is a succession of comic sketches while they are looking for Annie. Tit Po discovers that Annie has a fiance already. The fiance doesn't love Anee and just uses her (งานแต่ง and then งานศพ). They decide to interrupt the wedding party and saves her from the bad fiance, who wants to hurt Annee following an old conflict revenge between their fathers. They finally all return to the Northern mountains.

This movie contains art martial scenes that Hong Kong movies can envy. It grossed 120 million baht in Thailand. "Ong Bak" has been awarded the Action Asia prize at France's Deauville Asian Film Festival. The Culture Ministry registers 25 Thai classic films each year at the National Film Heritage Registry. Back to his home, a young man, named Sathi, hears weird noises in his home. He finally finds a skeleton hand in his fridge. Boonterm, young and beautiful lady, has disappeared. Nari has a love affair issue (ลงเสน่ห์ให้) with her husband. Likit wishes to make easy money and claims he can help through his master. He tells Nari’s husband that her wife won the lottery, so he is back to see her! A local spirit doctor (หมอเสน่ห์) performs a ceremony on a lady while some men are peeping through the window. The ghost hand helps the lady being aggressed by three ruffians. Santhi goes back to the countryside and stays in a friend's home in order to escape the visions he has about Boonterm. The friend's aunt has a similar face to Boonterm's elder sister. Sathi feels uncomfortable. Later on, the ghost hand (มือผี) continues to harass him while he is playing pool. Finally, an old man recognises him in a restaurant and calls the police. He saw Sathi dragging a body. Sathi discloses he is the one who dragged Boonterm from her home and she died as her head hit a rock. He made a lie to hide his responsibilities. Police arrests Sathi.

It is a horror R movie (R - Restricted) lasting 1h17mn. It is available under VCD / DVD format and was released by Happy Time Marketing Co company. It is possible that this HK movie was never released in Thailand. Many years later, such movies were released in VCD / DVD format and were highlighting the presence of famous comic actor Mum Jokmok despite him having only a second role. Due to marketing purpose, as Mum Jokmok was popular, the movie name was changed to หม่ำต้มยำผี (Mum Tom Yam Ghost). The movie is censored in order to be released widely under VCD format as love sequences are blurred or even cut. Master Mum Jokmok is fighting versus Pao Porapak. Both have supernatural powers. Elder brother Kwan is back from overseas studies. A will is opened as his father died suddenly. The daughter Chiep and the son Kwan get 100% of the heritage. The young mother-in-law (แม่เลี้ยง) Oi just gets authorisation to stay in the house. If anything happens to the children, then the heritage will be hers. Nattaporn, Oi’s lover, promises to manage this. Kwan is upset as his father died so fast. He has a bad relationship with the young mother-in-law. Kwan, his sister Chiep and her boyfriend have issues with ruffians hired by Oi in a discotheque. Nattaporn is doing black magic incantations to cause Kwan to have a motorbike accident. He falls in hell (เมืองผี) and meets his father! The father warns him about Oi and tells him how to go back to the earthen world. Nattaporn is some kind of vampire. Kwan is back as a ghost and contacts the lawyer, who is afraid of ghosts. Nattaporn kidnaps Chiep. Kwan asks for the lawyer's help. Kwan possesses Oi's body to kill Nattaporn but he fails. Master (อาจารย์) Mum is then involved in order to defeat Nattaporn. Following lengthy fighting, Nattaporn and Oi are defeated. The Thai version is cut too much to be appreciated and the release under a new name is just a commercial gimmick as Mum Jokmok has only a limited second role.

Mum Jokmok asks a cartoonist to draw comics about ghoul ghost and provides him some sacred powder to be used in the drawing. The sacred powder and the drawing make the ghoul ghost (ผีปอบ) to be back. It is Pop Thong Kham – ปอบทองคำ - already present in บ้านผีปอบ 1. She brings Pop Yip - ปอบหยิบ (Natanee Sitthisaman) already present in other บ้านผีปอบ opus. Both try to catch four comic men in the village. They use various tactics, but it fails. They use the drawings from the artist and thanks to the powder, drawings become reality. They use two beautiful young ladies to attract the men. The team is going to a sacred mountain (ดอยผีฟ้า) to neutralise the ghoul ghosts. Mum Jokmok recognizes he was wrong to use powder from the sacred mountain for drawing. It has caused the ghoul ghosts to be back. Multiple chases are happening between ghost ghouls and the villagers. Many jokes are featured during those comic chases. They finally got rid of Pop Thong Kham.

A fake letter received by Boonmee is leading to misunderstanding with Pat. Pat is upset as Surasak is even older than her own father! Boonmee's mother, following his son's plea, requests the village leader daughter's hand. He refuses (ดูถูกคนจน) and asks for dowry of 500 000 THB. Meanwhile Pat refuses to marry Surasak. To force her lightly, her father invents a 500 000 THB gambling debt towards Surasak. Pat has to accept to save her father's honor. Meanwhile Surasak's girlfriend, being pregnant, arrives to the wedding. The wedding is cancelled and Pat runs to find Boonmee. He promises to love Pat in front of river ลำน้ำพอง.

He is planning to ask her hand to her parents. While Chaoba is bathing in the river, she is attacked by the crocodile. Chook meets Chaoba’s father Prachot (Mum Jokmok) but she has disappeared. Chook believes Chaoba rejects his request for wedding. Local village headman (พี่ผู้ใหญ่) is requested for help. He decides to consult a local master (อาจารย์). The master identifies that Chaoba is dead and that a danger in the river is threatening the whole village. Meanwhile villagers organise a boat race. The crocodile (ไอ้เข้) disrupts the race. Chook has serious arguments with some villagers led by Chat. Chat is claiming Chook just loses the race and invents the crocodile story as a pretext. So a fighting occurs. The master requests three days to prepare special weapon to kill the crocodile. Chook is not willing to wait and wishes to kill the crocodile by himself. During a dream, Chaoba ghost is back and tells Chook to beware some villagers wishing to kill him. Chaoba’s spirit (วิญญาณ) helps to chase away ruffians trying to kill Chook. The master tries to neutralize the crocodile, which rejects Chaoba from his body. Chook has to put a sacred thread around her neck. The spirit is captured into a earthen pot. This part reminds of movie Mae Nak Pra Khanong (แม่นาคพระโขนง). The master gives holy weapons to Chook and his friends to get rid of the crocodile. The crocodile is defeated but the master also dies being killed by the crocodile spirit.

Three “Mae Bia” movies were released in 1989, 2001 and 2015. Phaya is a high-ranking title for nobility. So title พญาแม่เบี้ย highlights a powerful snake spirit. This B-movie may have surfed on the success of the 1989 movie version or the 1991 TV serie version by using a similar title, but it has a small budget. The local village leader visits Lamyong but she is not interested in him. Being upset, the villager leader wants to force Lamyong to be her wife (เป็นเมียให้ได้). Hopefully the snake is protecting Lamyong. While Mum Jokmok and another villager peek at Lamyong taking a bath, the snake makes them flee. Mum Jokmok discloses there is a snake spirit in Lamyong’s house, so villagers are now afraid of her. Young man Sadipap (ยุทธนา ศิริวัฒนา), a crocodile farm owner, is blamed by Chaba, Lamyong’s sister, despite he is not responsible to spread rumours. Young lady Somsree arrives in the city but she cannot find any taxi so Sadipap agrees to send her back home. She is the local village leader’s younger sister. Somsree is fond of Sadipap and is very enterprising. Is it love or desire? Sadipap is not sure. Lamyong’s father wishes to donate to the local Buddhist temple. The monk asks the father what is going on in his house as villagers try to avoid him. Taking profit that Lamyong is alone, the village leader visits her and declares his love. As she refuses and pushes him back (ไม่เล่นตัว), he tries to abuse her, but she fights back. The snake finally saves her. Seeing the bad guys leaving, Sadipap comes to rescue Lamyong. Lamyong asks the snake not to harm Sadipap as he comes to help her. Somsree is jealous that Sadipap loves Lamyong and complains she is now his wife. She reports to her brother and asks him to prevent this love. The village leader uses poison to kill a poor lad to accuse Lamyong and her snake. The village leader asks the local shaman (หมอ) to get rid of the snake spirit but it fails. He tries again to convince Lamyong to stop seeing Sadipap but she refuses. Somsree asks Sadipap to stop seeing Lamyong (แม่มด) but Sadipap chases her away as he suspects her brother to have killed the poor lad. The ruffians kidnap Lamyong. The snake guides Sadipap and his friends to the place where Lamyong is held captive. Police arrive also. Somsree becomes crazy due to her fear of snakes. The village leader is bitten by a snake and Lamyong is released.

Maybe some parts have been cut or censored. It is a horror comedy movie. Policeman Wut (กิตติพันธ์ พุ่มสุโข) is Kate's boyfriend (Trirak Rakkarndee). Kate's father is a doctor. The doctor imports a big box from overseas. Inside there is Dracula. As Thai Police is checking details, the box has to be thrown away. At nightime, Dracula (มอริส เค - Morris K) exits from the box looking for blood. ผีปอบ - Pop (Mum Jokmok) is also hanging around looking for blood and fresh intestines. Dracula from overseas meets Dracula Thailand, i.e. ผีปอบ! Both are vampires (ผีดิบ) but having different culture and different ways of getting blood. They work together to find fresh blood (ดูด). Police is investigating regarding the bodies found after their rampage. Dracula wishes to drink the blood of young lady Chaba (รักษ์สุดา สินวัฒนา) but Pop asks him not to kill her as she is his friend’s daughter. Following Dracula's bite, she becomes a vampire also. Dracula uses her to attract men to suck their blood. Wut's police colleagues play comic roles being afraid of ghosts. Police chases the vampires. Wut wants to use Kate to attract the vampire. The plan works as Dracula notices Kate in a discotheque. It starts failing when Wut loses track of Kate as she gets hypnotized by Dracula… Finally, Dracula is captured but Wut’s police colleagues, by having too naive, let him flee so he can reunite again with Pop.

Men cause her kingdom to disappear, so the Queen takes vengeance over all men. All men's souls (วิญญาณ) are tortured. Boon Leua wishes to marry young lady Pen. Yotin is a doctor from Bangkok and he doesn't believe in widow spirits. For him, deaths are natural. Boon Leua is jealous as Pen is showing interest in Yotin. Tai Tan is back in the village. He also refuses to believe but finally meets widow spirits in the forest. Typical comic chase sequences happen as people try avoiding ghosts, but they finally get caught! The four friends are condemned to be tortured by the widow spirits Queen. They flee so the Queen sends all her girls to chase them. They get help from Mida, who promises to send back their souls on the next day before their corpses are cremated. Five corpses (ศพ), including the village leader, are about to be cremated. Yoti recognises he was wrong and wishes to ordain to give them good deeds. They are back on time before the cremation (เข้าราง). Yotin, being Tan Tao in a previous life, and Mida (นางทรยศ) recognize each other. The Queen tries to break this love again, but it fails. Villagers use big lingams (ลิงค์) to chase away the widow spirits. Pen knows she has no more chance with Yotin so Boon Leua reiterates his love to Pen and succeeds.

The movie starts in year 2411 / 1868. Lady Nak is married to Mak. Her husband Mak is away as a soldier in Bangkok. Nak dies when giving birth. The movie first part is shot in sepia color. Mak is back from Bangkok. A citrus falls on the ground while Nak is preparing food for her husband. As she extends her arm to get the citrus, Mak knows his wife is now a ghost and decides to flee from home. Villagers go to Buddhist temple to request help from the abbot. Nak's spirit is captured by the abbot, put in an earthen pot and thrown in the river. Later on a fishermen couple catches the pot in their net. By breaking the pot, they release Nak spirit. In parallel, following a sword fight, lady Champee takes refuge in Nak's house. Champee's brothers want to marry her to a rich man and not to Tui, Mak's friend. Tui is played by Mum Jokmok, famous Thai comic since the 2000s, who is starring in this movie before he becomes famous for his jokes and comic skills. Robbers kidnap Bunta, daughter of a rich merchant. As Mak is interfering, Nak protects Mak and helps him to defeat the robbers. Master Te's (อาจารย์) help is requested as news about Nak spirit is spreading fast. Nak puts him in an earthen pot as a revenge of her previous burden. Nak follows the robbers and makes them kill each other. Their leader becomes crazy. Bunta goes back to her home and invites Mak to visit her. A love story starts between Mak and Bunta. Nak comes to face Mak and Bunta. She comes to get back her husband so threathens to kill Bunta as she is now between her and Mak. Nak still remembers her love promise but not Mak. As Nak is dead, Mak believes the love promise is void. Phi Nak kinadps Bunta's father to force her to leave Mak. A Buddhist novice comes to the village and stops Nak. She finally listens to the Buddhist novice and leaves the human world. This is another typical Thai horror movies from the 1990s with the classic chase between ghosts and humans in accelerated motion with the Halloween horror movie music. In 1989 actor Ekapan Banleurit and actress Trirak Rakkarndee already played together in TV serie แม่นาคพระโขนง.

Thai movie กะหัง was released in year 1991. It lasts 76 minutes. The picture quality is average. It was sold by two VCD companies under the name หม่ำต้มยำผี2. The highlight of this low budget comedy horror movie with limited Fx is to have two famous spirits from Thai folklore to meet (ผีปอบ and ผีกะหาง). Lom (Mum Jokmok) and Joomjim Khemlek are talking about a young lady called Fon. Doctor Klam (หมอกล่ำ) (Somsak Chaisongkram) is an herbal doctor (สมุนไพร). His daughter Oon, is pregnant since 2 months with Phi Mek but she didn't tell her father. A bit of light erotism suggestion is featured as such movie needs to accommodate many tastes in rural audience. Nobody talks to Sai Jai (Trirak Rakkarndee) or her mother in the village except Phi Mek. Sai Jai doesn't know that her mother is an ogress (ผีปอบ). Phi Mek decides to flee with Oon as they know Oon's father doesn't like Mek so he will not approve the wedding. Fon is Mek's younger sister. Mek asks his friends to take care of his father and his sister while he is away. Friends argue to be the one to take care of the beautiful Fon. Klam is very upset and threatens to kill both Mek and Oon. At nighttime in the forest, a demon (ผีกระหัง) attack them. Oon is killed. Sai Jai's mother, who was following Klam, eats her intestine. Phi Mek is back to the village. Nobody knows who the demon is. It is in fact doctor Klam! Sai Jai's mother forbids her daughter to see Mek and to marry only once she is dead. At nighttime, the mother becomes an ogress (ผีปอบ), female ghost eating intestines, and chases for preys. She is then attacked and killed by the demon. Before dying, the spirit is transferred from the mother to Sai Jai. Sai Jai then becomes an ogress. Klam is identified by villagers as the demon. A spirit doctor (หมอผี) is called. Finally as both ghosts are chasing villagers, the spirit doctor succeed to neutralize them. Klam becomes ashes and Sai Jai is safe after the spirit is removed from her body.
