This movie is made in three parts and relates the story of the greatest hero in Thai history, i.e. King Naresuan who was born in 1555. At the age of nine, he had been taken as hostage to Burma for 6 years to ensure Phitsanulok's loyalty to Burmese kingdom. In Pegu, Naresuan is treated as a son of the Burmese king, Bayinnaung, and is afforded all the respect due to a prince. Naresuan is ordained as a novice monk in a Buddhist temple under the supervision of the monk, Khanchong. There he became acquainted with sword fighting and methods of war. As his sister is also held hostage, Naresuan decided it is time for him to return to Siam. He attracted a band of loyal fellows and made his escape back to Phitsanulok.

Naresuan was sent back to Pegu to represent his father in paying homage to King Nandabayin, who had succeeded Bayinnaung, who passed away in 1581. Naresuan participated with his troops in a Burmese expedition against a Shan state and succeeded in taking a city after the Burmese crown prince and another prince had failed to do so. Naresuan thereby gained the jealous animosity of the crown prince, who plot various attacks against him. Naresuan proclaimed independence from Burma. When crossing River Satong, Naresuan had his forces under attack. With his army across, Naresuan is given a long rifle by his tutor, the monk Khanchong. Naresuan takes aim at the Burmese General across the mile-wide river and fires, killing the man and causing the Burmese troops to loose their morale and cease to follow. In 2009 King Naresuan 3 and 4 are being filmed with government financial support. The Ministry of Culture prioritises its financial support to films that deal with promoting loyalty to the pillars of nation, religion and monarchy. We are back to old times under Thanin Kraivichian's government (1976-1977), where Thai people were tought to be afraid of communism and that the way to survive was already to protect the nation, the religion and the monarchy.

Pim and Ploy were Siamese twins. Ploy is dead many years ago following a chirurgical operation as Pim wanted to be separated from her twin sister. Ae and her brother, Chon, are living alone together. The sister is studying medecine. The brother has always frightening visions of chopped body parts. He killed her and chopped her body because she threatened to blackmail him if they break up. The ghost is using the double personality of Dr. Sethee by having one personality to enquiry on the other in order that he shall be condemned for his killing.

Nab is driving a herd of buffalo in Isan, Northeast of Thailand, but they are attacked by thieves led by ruffian Koon. Meanwhile while at home, his wife, Chan, is raped and killed. A temple fair is happening in the village with boat race, dance (รำวง) and folk theater (likay). Saipin is the daughter of the sergeant and also Nuan’s close friend. She is fond of Sak. Khem is unsatisfied with Sak's presence. Ruffians try to kidnap Nuan again but they are chased away by the ghost of Chan. Koon decides to contact shaman (หมอผี) Kaew. They capture Chan and put it in an urn sealed with a sacred cloth. As Nuan is desperate following her mother disappearance, Sak consoles her and a romance starts between them. Saipin (สายพิณ) tries to get back Sak but to no avail. Saipin learns that Nuan is pregnant with Sak. Disappointed she arranges a plan with Khem so that he can kidnap her again. Refusing to become Khem’s wife, Nuan prefers to throw herself in the river and gets drown. Being pregnant, she becomes a powerful spirit (ผีตายโหง). The shaman tries to neutralize Nuan also. It is black magic versus white magic. Nuan spares Saipin’s life as they were friends before. Finally Saipin tells the truth to her father and to Nab. She has become crazy. Nab, Sak, the sergeant storm Koon house. Nuan takes revenge over Koon and Khem. She finally accepts to expiate her killings and hope to be reunited in next life with Sak. This movie scenario has many similarities with Mae Nak story. This movie brings a fresh and modern twist with better fx effects as such kind of movies were already popular in 1980 and 1990s.

Four university students (Ek, Don, Waen, Don’s girlfriend...) are preparing for their exams. There is a huge tree in the village with a spirit shrine below (เจ้าพ่อ). The students ask for help to the spirit in order to pass exams (บน). They succeed to pass their exams but forget to thank the shrine spirit (แก้บน). Ek has a vision of Thai soldiers walking. They meet a young man called Kwai and befriend. They all see a traditional Thai dancer being a ghost. She is coming from the shrine dancers figurines placed in front of the shrine. Waen has an electrical shock. Waen remains shocked and paralyzed. Kwai falls from motorcycle as the ghost teases him (โดนผีหลอก). A spirit doctor informs them that the spirit is looking for revenge as they didn't retribute properly despite their wish was granted. The spirit appears to most of them. Afraid, they are now willing to appease the spirit and redeem a vow to the spirit but they cannot perform the ceremony as the tree has been cut! The friends are looking at what happened to the tree and how the wood was used. The sawmill sold it to somebody else already. It was sold to a company selling coffins. The coffin is sold already. They steal the wood in the Buddhist temple before the coffin is cremated. Roots are appearing around Waen. Ceremony is done to soothe the spirit by using the wood used to make the coffin. Waen recalls dreams he had about soldiers from Rama V period. Bawdy sequence occurs when all friends has to eat a ปลัดขลิก one by one to prove their innocence. Waen is possessed by Plaeng (Chatchai Plengpanich). They took the wrong wood, so the spirit is not soothed. The wood was finally used to do toothpicks. Plaeng was an officer and was betrayed by his friends. His spirit entered the huge tree in the village. His friends couldn't save him. Ceremony to appease the spirit is done by using toothpicks. Finally, the ghost accepts to rebirth.

Khaem is now back and willing to take back the selling promise. David is helped by a strong fighter just released from prison. This man is the one who killed his father before.Dao is kidnapped. Final thrilling fights are happening between Khaem and the ruffians.

Two men (Yai - Nakorn Silachai - and Ut - Kerttisak Udomnak -) arrive at the petrol station. They are gay and just bought the petrol station to transform it into a spa for teamsters! Yai keeps receiving calls from a young lady called Taeng Mo. Taeng Mo asks Yai to stop his relationship with Ut. Ut is aware and upset. Yai started his relationship with Taengmo during a drunken night. Taeng Mo was a tomboy but meeting with Yai made her change her mind. Taeng Mo’s father asks Yai to take his responsibilities with his daughter! Meanwhile the lady ghost tries to give messages to Yai. Ut is disappointed with Yai and attaches him to a wall. While Ut is looking for his dog, Yai succeeds to flee. Ut is chased by the lady ghost. While fleeing, Ut meets Taeng Mo and punches her. Hopefully for her, police arrives on time. The ghost surname is Chanee. The monks cannot help him, so Ut decides to burn the petrol station. Due to the mischievous ghost, Ut and Yai kill each other. Chanee possesses Yai’s body but as she refuses any relationship with Taeng Mo, she gets expelled from the body as Taeng Mo shots Yai. There are now three ghosts in the police station...

Thai movie หอแต๋วแตก was released in year 2007 and lasts 1h29mn. This Horror comedy reminds a bit of Baan Phi Pop (บ้านผีปอบ) but goes much beyond as introducing a gay ghost (ผีกะเทย). By year 2016, five opus have been released. While being with Nam Mo, Pancake (Koeti Aramboy) dies from slipping and hurting a WC toilet seat. The four landlords (including Jaturong Mokjok and Ekkachai Srivichai - เอกชัย ศรีวิชัย), old style gays, have to get rid of the corpse. Police comes and Nam Mo is about to tell them the truth as he is being possessed by Pancake. A young lady ghost (เด็กผู้หญิงผี), called Nam Ning (เป้ย ปานวาด), is already present in the building. The tenants, aware of ghosts (เรื่องผี) in the building, wish to quit. The four gay landlords succeed to convince them to stay by offering rent price decrease and promise to get rid of the ghosts. A spirit doctor (แม่หมอ) fails to chase the ghosts! A second one fails also. Akom Preedakul is also having a cameo role. Koeti is lonely (เหงา) and wishes Jaturong Mokjok to do good deeds (ทำบุญ) for him. The young lady ghost was in fact raped and a tape was recorded. While trying to get the tape, Nam Ning fell from the roof. Somchai Sakdikul is hired as a black magician (หมอผี). Nam Mo and Nam Ning are living in different world already (อยู่คนละโลก) but they still have feelings for each other. Finally Nam Ning gets revenge on her rapist and he falls from the roof also. The black magician is decided to get rid of the ghosts. Magic fightings happen and Pancake is using a big sexual amulet (ปลัดขลิกใหญ่) to defeat the black magician. During the fightings, Nam Ning dies while protecting Nam Mo. Pancake also succumbs. Other rapists are arrested by police. The building can be finally exorcised thanks to Buddhist monks.

A group of Thai people include three cripples. Yot has bad teeth, Leh is cross eyed and Suey has a crippled leg. A policeman loves Suey and is ready to everything to ask for her hand. Suey is working in a market. When they see the fee (ค่าเช่า) required by the mafia to all market stalls, they wish to enter a local mafia gang to become rich. They are accepted and have to kidnap a teen but they mistake with the son of another mafia boss. To escape the boss fury, they have to hide in a Karaoke and then take refuge in a Chinese shrine. The mafia kid doesn't want to come back with his father. They finally end up in a haunted house. The movie ends up with good feelings (wedding, father and son reunited...). It is a typical comic movie of decade 2000 including many verbal and visual jokes. It is similar to a TV comic show with a drum beat for each gag. Such comedy can sell well but only at the local Thai market due to indigenous gags. There is still a market in Thailand for such simple but entertaining comedy. This movie is an low average production with a loose script and a collage of gags.

Annie, a young Bangkokian woman, is coming with four friends to help for the development of an Akha mountain village (คนดอย) in North of Thailand. Villagers doesn't speak well Thai (พูดไทยไม่ชัด) and call Annie "Khun dok mai" (คุนดอกไม้). Tit Po, mountain villager, is fond of Annee. Some ruffians capture a few villagers as they wish to build a resort and chase villagers. As a typical cliche, the boss is massaged by two bimbos. Thanks to cooperation between Annie and the villagers, the prisoners escape successfully. Annie is back to Bangkok as her father is sick. Tit Po with the help of three villagers decide to look for her in Bangkok. There are typical gags about countryside people discovering Bangkok for the first time. They stealing a fire truck to chase after Annie but are followed by the police. They are rescued by a kathoey (กะเทย) prostitute and need to resolve to pickpocketing to have money. They succeed to find a job in a Chinese restaurant. One customer is Mum Jokmok having issues with his wife while dining with his mistress. This movie includes all the major Thai comic actors that can be seen in 2000s decade movies (actor Mum Jokmok, actor Sang Tong See Sai - สังข์ทอง สีใส - famous for his ugly face, actress Duang Ta having biased eyes, actor Arn Terdterng - อ่าง เทิดเทิง - with his famous stammering speaking, actor Note Chernyim โน้ต เชิญยิ้ม, actor Somchai Sakdikul - สมชาย ศักดิกุล ...). There is a succession of comic sketches while they are looking for Annie. Tit Po discovers that Annie has a fiance already. The fiance doesn't love Anee and just uses her (งานแต่ง and then งานศพ). They decide to interrupt the wedding party and saves her from the bad fiance, who wants to hurt Annee following an old conflict revenge between their fathers. They finally all return to the Northern mountains.

Ton, a Bangkok guy, arrives in a small Thai southern city and takes a room in a basic hotel. The hotel receptionist is Na. She is idle the whole day as there are no customers. The hotel is empty. Ton is working on a resort construction work close to sea. Near the resort there is an empty resort in quite bad condition. It looks like people left abruptly. He prefers to stay in the cheaper hotel far from the resort. His coworkers are surprised that a Bangkokian can stay in a such tranquil city. Na seems to like him. Ton likes quiet place (เงียบดี). Na is still single and takes care of a relative’s child. Ton needs to go back to Bangkok and to Na's surprise, he comes back.He doesn’t like Bangkok (รถติด, คนเยอะ). Ton is still single. A romance starts between Na and Ton. Na’s hotel was the biggest in town before people start going to seaside. For elders, living on hills was better due to deadly typhoon many decades ago. People in the small city start to gossip (นินทา) about Ton and Na relationship. Following the 2004 deadly tsunami, the city has lost all its tourists. One morning Ton's car is smashed. Some bikers try to intimidate Ton. Na starts to feel bad. She knows her brother is involved. Na is running the hotel with her brother but he is quite lazy. He does not dare to go back to seaside since the tragic 2004 tsunami. Nobody seems to have happiness in this city since the tsunami. Why Ton and Na should have happiness? One morning, after having spent the night with Na, Ton is kidnapped, hit and killed by the local bikers. Na was right to say Bangkok people never come back for her. This movie, which is not a main stream release, has received a few awards outside Thailand, i.e. at Hong Kong film festival, at the Pusan International Film Festival, at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and at the Deauville Asian Film Festival. It is slow pace movie. It is slow and quiet like this wonderful remote city.

Wit comes from America with his wife Daeng (Lalita Panyopas) for funerals. He has been living there for 10 years. Daeng finds a paper with a phone number related to a lady called Noi in Wit's pocket. He meets a young 19 years old teen girl called Ploy at the hotel coffee shop and invites her to rest in his room while waiting 4 hours for her mother. She has a black eye. A mysterious hotel maid taking good care of a suit. Daeng disagrees to let Ploy stay in their hotel room but doesn't dare to tell her frankly. The hotel barman (Ananda Everingham) wears the suit. He meets the maid in a hotel bathroom. They made love in the room. There is contrast between this new relationship and jealousy happening between Daeng and Wit regarding Ploy. While Wit is sleeping, Daeng tries to suffocate Ploy and kills her. Meanwhile a lady called Noi knocks at the door with a child. Everything was a dream. Daeng argues with Wit about his feelings as he is always busy at the restaurant or watching football late with his friend. Wit refuses to explain who is Noi. Daeng leaves the hotel room. Discussions about end of relationship love happen between Wit and Ploy. Daeng indulges in alcohol as she is a former Thai actress. She stopped acting 10 years ago. She follows a man claiming to be a former fan. Some parts might be dream or reality. The movie keeps the ambiguity. She follows him until his warehouse home. She starts to be worried. She cannot contact Wit as he has gone out with Ploy. The man drugs Daeng, starts to be more daring and tries to rape her. Wit is worried about Daeng (อย่าทิ้งพี่นะ). In the morning, Daeng flees but the man gets a gun to chase her. Following a fight, a gun shot is heard. Who gets shot? Finally Daeng arrives on time for the funeral and Wit confirms his love for Daeng. Ploy (พลอย) is a 2007 movie directed by Pen-Ek Ratanaruang. It mixes love, couple crisis and expiration of relationship.

This Singaporean-Thai docudrama was shot in 2 weeks in red district Singapore Geylang. It is about two groups of people, the pleasure seekers and the pleasure providers and how their lives cross and interact. Three stories take place in parallel. In first story, two friends come together to brothel but one of them is too shy to select and go with a girl. His friend pushes him to get some experience as first time initiation. Finally he chooses a girl from Mainland China. He enquiries why she has to do such job. Her father died so she needs to support her home. Both are crying. Will she see him again? A girl shall not love her customer. In the second story, a man follow up a young girl to a hotel room. The girl is joining an older woman, who is already with a customer. It is related to initiation of the young girl as a prostitute. She discovers the brutaly of the job but gets some support from the older jaded woman. There is a temporary communion between the man and the two ladies. The jad woman listens to love songs as love is not possible for her and cries. The man brings the young girl home but the wallet is still the transactional basis. In third story, one girl has a rich patron but she is not happy. She finally brings a young guy, making his living by singing songs in the streets, with her. Both of them are drop-outs. She always gives pleasure but this time she receives. In the old days, the Geylang area used to be populated by processing factories for the coconut plantations. These days, the machines are still running at full steam but producing pleasure for those seeking it, night after night. What would happen if the pleasure factory stops and if humans stop being pleasure seeking / giving machines? Due to censure, two minutes were cut.
