The 12 August is Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's birthday or วันเฉลิมพระชนมพรรษา สมเด็จพระนางเจ้าฯ พระบรมราชินีนาถ in Thai language. This public holiday is celebrated nationwide as Mother's Day ("WAN MAE HENG CHAT" - วันแม่แห่งชาติ). The Queen is considered as the mother of all Thai people.
In Hong Kong, the Thai community also celebrates Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's birthday.
The celebration happens on a Sunday as most Thai people are working during week days.
The 2016 celebration is happening in Wat Buddha Vippassana Dham, located in Yuen Long
District. When arriving in the Buddhist temple, people are welcomed to sign their names
and give a donation.
There is a big Bramha statue in Wat Buddha Vippassana Dham, located in Yuen Long
District. This Thai dancer is paying hommage to Lord Brahma.
Today is Mother's Day so many Thai ladies are present today in Wat Buddha Vippassana Dham.
There is only one monk in Wat Buddha Vippassana Dham. He is delivering
a Buddhist sermon to Thai local people.
There is full house to listen to the Buddhist sermon as Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's birthday /
Mother's Day is a key event for Thai people.
Free delicious Thai food is offered to people, who joined today celebration.
Food is cooked in the temple's kitchen.
Thai and local HK people pay respect to the Buddhist temple abbot.
Some traditional Thai dances are performed today in Wat Buddha Vippassana Dham.
All people give respect to the middle age ladies as they represent
the mother symbol of selfless love.
Those ladies receive flowers. This is a touching sequence as many local Thai people
are unable to go home for this celebration so they give respect to those ladies, proxy
of their own mothers.
The Thai Buddhist abbot gives blessings to the people, who joined
today celebration.
Thai Queen's birthday celebrations include some patriotic songs. Thai people
pay respect to the Queen, the King and the monarchy by singing and waiving the
Thai flag.
Wat Buddha Vippassana Dham is located on a mountain in a remote part
of Yuen Long district.
The Mother's Day ends up to Thai people cheering up and waving Thai flags.
Everybody greets the Buddhist monk before leaving the Thai temple.

Buddhist Monastery. It is located near Shap Pat Heung area in Yuen Long district.
