There are still many old Thai movies standalone theaters in Northeast of Thailand. A few old standalone theaters were still present in Yasothon until recently.
The "Sothon Rama" cinema standalone theater is located in Yasothon.
Thai full name is โสธรรามา.

Nowadays the "Sothon Rama" cinema standalone building is still here. It is now transformed
into a department store called "Nanaphan Plaza".
There are two types of standalone theaters, i.e. level 1 (โรงหนังชั้น 1) and level 2 (โรงหนังชั้น 2). In level one, people enter at the beginning of the movie and exit at the end of the movie. In level two, people can enter or exit anytime they want.
The former theater lobby is now used by the department store to set stands and sell goods.
Entries to the auditorium of the former "Sothon Rama" are closed. On that day,
it was not possible to access it.
Such standalone theater could host more than one thousand people. It was located near a market.
Another former access to the auditorium is also closed and obstructed by goods.
The "Sothon Rama" cinema standalone theater is said to have opened around
year 1982 and closed around year 1997
(probably during the Asian crisis).
Local people mention the "Sothon Rama" cinema standalone theater was the biggest
theater in Northeast of Thailand.
The "Sothon Rama" cinema building is now painted in pink color.
Old pictures show that the building was painted in beige and various light brown
colors.
The "Sothon Rama" cinema was an impressive building. All the recent modifications
to transform it as a department store mask its former majesty.
The marquee โสธรรามา has been replaced by the one from the
department store นานาภัณฑ์ พลาซ่า.
Before there were some artists (ช่างป้ายเขียนป้ายหนัง) painting the huge billboard,
cut outs (ภาพคัตเอ๊าท์). This time is gone by...
