There are still many old Thai movies standalone theaters in Northeast of Thailand. A few old standalone theaters were still present in Nongkhai until recently.

The "Phet Siam" cinema standalone theater is located in Nongkhai. Thai full name is เพชรสยาม.

Remaining standalone theaters are under threat as the investment in digital equipment is very huge (up to 10M baht).

There are some barking dogs around this old movie theatre.

There are two types of standalone theaters, i.e. level 1 (โรงหนังชั้น 1) and level 2 (โรงหนังชั้น 2). In level one, people enter at the beginning of the movie and exit at the end of the movie. In level two, people can enter or exit anytime they want.

The "Phet Siam" cinema standalone theater was transformed into a badminton hall but without success as the hall also closed.

One chance to survive is to improve their infrastructure and be cleaner but money is always an issue when business is limited.

The "Phet Siam" cinema standalone theater closed during the 1997 Asian financial crisis.

Such standalone theater could host from a few hundreds to one thousand five hundreds people. They were often located near markets or bus terminal.
