There are still many old Thai movies standalone theaters in Bangkok.


During year 2012, there was a news that Chulalongkorn University shall spend a huge amount of money to develop a new shopping mall on the plot that now houses Lido Theatre in Siam Square.


The Lido's contract has expired at the end of year 2016. After the International Film Festival (April 2017) and Silent Film Festival (May 2017) took place, Lido is supposed to close forever. The owner said the building is unsafe and shall be renovated.
