Kat O, also known as Crooked Island, is located in the northeastern part of the New territories, north of the Sai Kung peninsula.

Often in remote villages or remote islands, public water supply is not available. So local villagers have to rely on wells to get water.

There are Kaito boats from Sha Tau Kok pier to Kat O. There are 4 boats a day. Only Kat O residents can board those boats.

Following the emigration of many Kat O people overseas or to Kowloon / Hong Kong areas, such rural school finally closed as no number of pupils was no longer enough.

There is a Kut-O Chinese Association located in UK. The association was initially setup by a group of UK residents from the island of Kat O.

Even the public toilets near the Kut O public school are also abandoned.

Kat O island is famous for its rock specimena and fossils. It features steep cliffs and small grottoes where pirates used to hide hundreds years ago.

The total area of Crooked Island is 2.35km2. Highest point is Wong Fong Shan at 121m above sea level.

There is a huge police presence on the water near Kat O island with frequent patrols and high speed boats in order to prevent smuggling from mainland China to Hong Kong.

As the population has reduced a lot over the years, many houses are now abandoned and empty.
